⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ An Exceptional Surgeon and an Amazing Experience Dr Karatas is an incredible surgeon, and I cannot recommend him highly enough! From the moment we arrived in Istanbul, he made me feel comfortable and well cared for. He personally met me at Medicana Hospital on arrival and ensured I was settled in and had all my tests completed before my surgery that afternoon. Communication with his assistant was excellent from the very beginning, from the initial booking and answering all my questions to the final days before leaving Australia. Dr Karatas speaks excellent English, which made the entire process so much easier and gave me great confidence throughout my journey. After surgery, he personally checked on me and removed my drain. His gentle, caring nature and wonderful bedside manner made what could have been a stressful experience feel so much easier. I felt supported and looked after every step of the way. My recovery has been amazing! I have had absolutely no issues post-op, and by day five, I was walking 7 km a day around Istanbul. Now that I am back home, my incisions have healed beautifully, and I couldn't be happier with how everything is progressing. The care didn't stop when I left the hospital, either. I was provided with nutritional information, and the team remained available to answer any questions I had, even after returning home. That ongoing support has meant so much to me. Dr Karatas uses the latest techniques and combines his surgical expertise with genuine compassion and an outstanding bedside manner. Today marks post-op day 8, and I am already feeling fantastic. Dr. Karatas and his team provided an exceptional experience from start to finish. Every single step of the process was handled with remarkable efficiency and timeliness, which immediately put any anxieties at ease. The hospital facilities were top-notch—spotlessly clean, modern, and fully equipped to ensure a comfortable recovery. From start to finish my experience was absolutely amazing, I had exceptional care from the moment I got into the hospital until the morning I left. I first made contact with Caner to arrange my surgery in March 2026 and my surgery was June 2026 Caner has been incredibly helpful and put any worries I had to ease answering my questions at all times of the day. Dr karatas is friendly and gentle, he genuinely cares for his patients and is top of the game for a reason. I am now 1 week post op little discomfort and my scars are healing beautifully. Mahmud dr karatas assistant who you meet at hospital is a lovely man and very helpful for translating he goes above and beyond for any of dr karatas patients. I was sooooo apprehensive about visiting Turkey for bariatric surgery but it was all faultless and seamless I really hope this is your sign to go for it The hospital and all hospital employees make you feel so at ease too.

Dr. Karataş is a very kind, warm, and humble person who makes you feel comfortable and confident from the very beginning. The entire process was smooth, professional, and very well organised. I felt supported every step of the way. I have lost 26 kg in just two months and I am still progressing steadily. The package was also very affordable and included everything from pre-operative tests to accommodation, transfers, and post-operative care. I only needed to arrange my flights. For over 6 years I had been hoping to have a gastric sleeve, I felt that it was going to be impossible for me to have in the UK but was very anxious to travel abroad. Before surgery I spent lots of time researching surgeons to find one that I could trust, and be less risky for me. Dr Ibrahim Karataş was exactly what I was looking for, having a wealth of experience. Dr. Ibrahim Karataş is also the only surgeon in Turkey that uses the tri steplar technology to reduce the risk of leaking which was a big worry for me, this gave lots of confidence in his work. Throughout the booking process everything was great, I was given ample information. If I was unsure the team were just a message away. On arrival at the hospital I was very surprised with how clean everything was, it was more like a hotel than hospital. I was given many health tests and checks to ensure I was ready for surgery. On the day of surgery everything went smoothly, everyone was fantastic and even when there were some language barriers the team went above and beyond to make sure that communication was clear. Surgery went perfectly with no issues. During my stay the nurses that looked after me were incredibly caring, and were more than happy to offer help where needed. Mahmud the Drs assistant, was very lovely and had excellent English skills he was always happy to answer any questions. He was very reassuring throughout. Overall Dr. Ibrahim Karataş team and everyone at Medicana hospital exceeded my expectations of having surgery abroad. I cant wait for my new healthier life!
