Mishandled a product safety recall
HYPER previously sold a battery pack on Kickstarter that it recently recalled due to being a fire hazard. Despite being a safety recall, they only offered store credit for the product rather than a full refund, which is infuriating on its own, but in addition to that, they don't have any equivalent battery packs available to buy at the same price, meaning a customer would need to spend even more money to get a similar product. They also didn't even provide a store credit for the full value, as they only sent me $149, but their own documents show I paid $159. They claimed that the lack of communication throughout the recall process was due to their hiring a third party to handle it, but this doesn't absolve them of their responsibilities, and for several months, I received minimal or no communication about my returned item or my expected refund. In general, this company is extremely untrustworthy, and given their current safety track record, I wouldn't buy from them again and risk another (botched) recall.
