I logged into my spotify account to play some music thinking nothing bad would come from it, nobody else was in the room with me or anything! An hour later while i was listening to my playlist, my music suddenly stopped. Confused, I checked if maybe the app needed an update or something but it didn’t. I had been kicked out of my own account and when I attempted logging back in, it said my password was incorrect. This leaves me to believe that the site stole my data, hacked into my spotify account, changed the password, and effectively locked me out. Why? I don’t even know.

Hello, This is not possible.
No one can see anything that you are browsing, or what you input because you are on a freshly opened virtual browser that is fully deleted when you close it. Was anyone else in the room with you, such as friends you invited? That is all I can think of.

The Ad blocker no longer works
The Ad blocker no longer works on youtube and hasn't reliably for weeks, effectively ruining the functionality of this for watch parties.

Hey there, we do not make any adblockers. Youtube as a company has been blocking adblockers out there, as they do not want people blocking ads on their site. That is something out of our control.

Hey there,
We are sorry you are not happy with the service. Hyperbeam is meant for small friend groups, and the limit of 12 users per room is listed on the info tabs of the site.
Also, our subscriptions do not advertise that they would increase this limit. If you purchased one and are not happy, you can easily get a refund by contacting us at [email protected]
This viewer limit is simply there by reccomendation of our lawyers, we want to focus on helping connect small friend groups!

Hyperbeam is not safe
Hyperbeam is not safe. Claims that the rooms are VM's and preach about their safety whilst this is very much false.
Ran it recently and it tried to run data from other sites I didn't even access through my computer.
These sites were:
e2ertt.com
diromalxx.com
propeller-tracking.com
You can also test this yourself by using an antivirus that automatically blocks trackers. It will alert you of the occurence straight away. This particularly occurence happened on a streaming site.
VMs do not typically run data through the host PC when you run them, making this rather unsafe.
Either it was never safe or there was a breach recently [which would explain the network issues]
Very disappointing.
Edit: Scanned my PC with an antivirus afterwards too and detected Heuristic malware [overrides the function of a file on your PC to turn it into malware], this is really bad, fix your app.

Hi Ambrose,
Our VMs are actually isolated from your computer when using the site normally. However, some streaming sites are region locked or blocked from datacenter networks, which is why we have the Hyperbeam Proxy on the desktop app which you can optionally enable to make the site traffic go through your computer and have your residential IP address in order to access content available in your region. It sounds like you are using the proxy. If this is the case, you should simply turn it off, and the traffic won't go through your computer.
We also have an adblocker preinstalled and configured to block most ads and trackers, but sometimes certain trackers don't get fully blocked, and combine that with the proxy, and you get those trackers in your online traffic.
Regarding the malware issue you are seeing on the virus scan, that is a false positive and we have already fixed the issue in the latest version of the app which was released roughly a month ago, please download and install the latest version through https://hyperbeam.com/download

Hello,
I think you are a bit mistaken. Hyperbeam is a watch party service, not a VPS web host. While we do not do anything to block access to games and game websites, it's not possible to install programs, and some browser based game inputs may not be supported by the technology at this time.
Due to the watch party nature, rooms are meant to have multiple people in them as well. We had a large number of solo rooms that consistent mostly of people trying to unblock content on things like school computers, so we had to limit those to make rooms for all the watch parties people wanted to start. We still enable people to host rooms alone just to be able to check if things actually work, because that is really useful!

I'm not sure why you feel this way. We offer a robust free experience that never permanently locks users out, but under high traffic, may result in limiting the maximum amount of hours per day to around 3 or more, which is actually quite long!
We offer the paid subscription to pay server costs, and to give back to those that support us, we give unrestricted access 24/7, no wait times, and no time limits. We strongly believe this is the most fair method of distributing our limited space.
Would you prefer some other method, that also ensures our website can stay open? We are always open to suggestions!

As I've pointed out in other fake reviews about this, taking credit card information would be impossible, we use Stripe, a third party service used by many people online. It means we have no access to your credit card information. You can read more about Stripe at www.stripe.com
Given your name and time of review, I get the unfortunate feeling that this was part of the wave of fake reviews we got all at once, which is disappointing.
