Absolutely horrendous customer service. Very clunky website. If you have any issues whatsoever with anything, you will never get adequate help.

I had a very frustrating experience with Hubstaff and would strongly caution others before using this platform. I canceled my Hubstaff subscription before the next billing cycle specifically to avoid being charged again. Despite canceling in time, Hubstaff still billed my account. When I attempted to log back into the account to fix the issue and remove inactive team members, the system would not allow me to make any changes unless I paid the invoice first. This meant I was forced to pay just to regain access to my account settings. The problem is that several of the team members listed in the account were no longer working with my company, and if I had been allowed to access the account normally, I would have removed them and the invoice would have been significantly lower. After paying simply to regain access, I contacted support to explain the situation and request help. Instead of resolving the issue or acknowledging the platform limitation that caused the problem, they refused to issue a refund, citing their refund policy. So to summarize: • I canceled my subscription before the billing date • Hubstaff still charged me • The platform blocked account changes until the invoice was paid • I was forced to pay to access my account • Support refused to correct the billing or refund the charge This experience felt extremely unfair and honestly predatory. A platform should never force payment just to access account controls, especially when a customer is trying to correct billing. Because of this experience, I canceled Hubstaff entirely and will not be using their platform again. If you are considering Hubstaff, I would recommend looking carefully at their billing practices and refund policies before committing.

Terrible customer service. All they will want to reach out is to ask you to pay for more stuff and if there is any issue on there side, they will not care. I got double billed and they have the audacity to say, we don't think we can return the money. So you charge my by mistake and refuse to give back!!!!

The worst customer service ever The experience with the agent Matt was disastrous. He refused to check the screenshot I shared or properly read the issue I had already described, and instead kept insisting on explaining everything again. His tone was patronizing and unpleasant; after almost every reply, he asked if he could close the ticket and even boasted about being from the UK.

Sneaky billing practises

customer service is awful, I regret it. I never mind paying a price for quality. But there just is lack of transparency, the add on features are individual on top of the annual fee they charge they rack up monthly add ons & not enough clarity. They take forever on customer service side to be of any help. I recommend you shop elsewhere for similar programs.

The issue isn’t seat-based pricing — it’s lack of disclosure. Hubstaff’s interface allows you to “Add a user” without clearly stating that this creates a paid recurring seat. Viewer-only users and temporary workers also triggered charges, with no confirmation screen or billing-change email. Charges continued while support tickets went unanswered. When support did respond only after being prompted and weeks later, they cited internal policy instead of addressing consent or transparency and most importantly consumer protection laws that apply to this type of situation. This could have been resolved easily with clear pricing warnings, but as it stands, the billing experience is not transparent at all.

We signed up to Hubstaff to track staff hours, paid for the platform, and then were completely abandoned. There was no onboarding, no setup call, and no real guidance on how to actually use the product or track meaningful metrics. For a tool that’s supposed to provide insights and accountability, it’s surprisingly hard to understand and poorly explained unless you already know exactly what you’re doing. When we reached out for help, we were stuck talking to an AI chatbot that went in circles and provided nothing useful. The only way we managed to reach a real human was by typing “cancel my subscription.” Suddenly, support appeared — which says everything. Even then, the support was chat-only, refused to do a Zoom or onboarding call, and simply dumped FAQ links on us instead of actually helping. No attempt to understand our use case, no walkthrough, no effort. So to summarize: Took our money ✔️ Zero onboarding ✔️ Confusing metrics and setup ✔️ AI gatekeeping real support ✔️ Human support only when cancelling ✔️ Refusal to offer real help (Zoom/call) ✔️ If you’re a business expecting hands-on support, onboarding, or even basic customer care, look elsewhere. Hubstaff feels more interested in subscriptions than in helping customers succeed.
