I did try to reach out to Home Instead prior to this review. They are supposed to be a people company. They are uncaring, inconsiderate and rude. The treatment of staff is awful. I feel very sorry for anyone being "cared" for.

We've used home instead for around 4…
We've used home instead for around 4 years and all in all its been an awful experience carers leaving their client in the incompetence pants and nothing else for 20mins plus. A carer has been showing up ill and spreading her germs all over my sick grandmother and my grandfather is now sick because of the 2 months she's been coughing her guts up in the faces. Had a carer even sit and watch TV while her client was crying and distressed and she did nothing.
Just awful all around
Now it's £32 ph it's a complete scam. Out of about 5 carers we see 2 of them do them job without being corrected after years of being here.

Misled and unprofessional. We have been mislead and badly treated…
We have been mislead and badly treated by the manager assigned. A dreadful experience after less than 2 months we had to give them notice. We could not deal with people that don't keep their word and mess you around. Terrible

REIMBURSEMENT OF TRAINING COSTS…
REIMBURSEMENT OF TRAINING COSTS AGREEMENT
Clients InFocus Limited trading as Home Instead Senior Care, Aylesbury Vale and North East Oxfordshire
This is a terrible company to work for. Loved working with the clients, but company wants to benefit from slave labour to deter staff from leaving. Wants to enslave people by insisting they work for it for a minimum of one year lest you are fined for leaving. What do you call it when you work for a company then they take all the money than an act of slavery? LOL- seeks reimbursement for things you have no choice to opt out of like 'introductions' to their own clients whom they allocate you to work with, training (compulsory), DBS, Digital licence etc. In the 21st century how legal is it for an employer make you a slave who can't leave their employment within 12 months? How 'proportionate' is this? Just because you have offered your services to them, what makes them think they have a right to want to own you for a whole year when you even haven't known if the job is right for you?
This is what their bizarre contract says:
"Description of Training Cost Venue Provider
1. Introductions and shadowing by a skilled team
member to train to meet client’s specific needs: £20 per Introduction Various Home Instead
2. Follow-up support and training visits with a skilled
team member: £20 per visit Various Home Instead
3. DBS check. £50 N/A Online DBS checker
4. E-learning licence (Care Certificate & amp; Mandatory Training): £99 Digital Platform My Learning Cloud.
5. Digital Inductions & Workshops (Module 1,
Module 2, Module 3, Induction): £100 per session Digital Platform Home Instead.
6. Basic Life Support: £50 Franchise Office Home Instead
7. Moving & Handling £50 Franchise Office Home Instead
The induction training costs amounts to the sum of between £369-£849 inclusive of a DBS check and will be paid for by the Company. I undertake that should I leave my employment with the Company; I will refund to the Company of the aforementioned training costs based on the following criteria:
*You fail to give the company the required contractual notice period in the event you terminate
your employment with the company.
* You terminate your employment with the company within the first 12 months of your
employment.
*The company terminates your employment within your first 12 months of employment for any
reason other than redundancy.
*If changes in your availability have a detrimental impact on working hours being allocated to you,
it will be assumed you are enforcing point 2 above as your contract is based on your availability at
point of application."
They don't tell you this during interviews, or 'training'. Contract or not, this is servitude, and no human being should be subjected to this kind of treatment. In the UK in the 21st century, No human being should be forced to work for a whole year, charged for training which you don't have a right to opt out of even when you already have the training- training that I cannot use anywhere, and for being 'introduced' to the company's own clients, otherwise they lose all their last month's pay, which is paid in the middle of the following month!
AVOID BY ALL MEANS AND BEWARE of small print by this company OR BE THEIR NEXT VICTIM/forced donor!!!!!!

dont waste your time, Bethlehem, PA
was working for a client and everything was going well. as soon as I had enough hours to get benefits I got a text message from owner that I was fired with no explanation. They told my client I quit, but that was rectified when he hired me privately and ditched home instead. They are a greedy , low life, low integrity company who treats employees like garbage and clients even worse. They also show up at unemployent hearings with lawyers and battle your unemployment claim. Go elsewhere.

This is the worst company I have EVER worked for!!!
I should've seen the red flags before I'd even started. They advertised a full time wage and then got me to sign a zero hour contract. The training was on my birthday and I asked if I could make the next training day because of this in which they responded "no more training days for a while now, you'll have to come to this one or you'll miss out on the job." So ofcourse I went in. Only to find out they were doing training days every week!! As you can imagine I wasn't best pleased. We also got told that we would be paid for both training days. WE DID NOT.
Okay so moving on to the actual job...
The clients were lovely, Yeah the whole 3 clients I got in an ENTIRE YEAR were lovely. I got promised a full time job and got told I'd have at least 10 clients by the end of month 2 and that they would keep growing until I was on a full wage. This was total bull. Everytime I went in for a meeting I'd bring it up whilst in tears and they'd promise it was going to change. IT DIDN'T! I was really struggling. So I took it on myself to start doing my promo jobs again to fill in the LARGE gaps so I could get by and pay my bills. They would text about 30 minutes before saying they have put me in to see a client because someone else can't make it. (They would do this ALOT) they wouldn't even ask me, they would just put me in and tell me! Sometimes they wouldn't even tell me and then call me asking why I wasn't with the client. So eventually I spoke up about it and explained my situation and that they can't just throw me in last minute without asking me. Not only do I have other jobs booked in now but it's just not on! They were so rude to me and would just hang up the phone and send me snotty messages after. All the nicey nice management turned into really vile rude people. And then all of a sudden I was only doing 2 visits a week which meant I wasn't making any bills. They seemed to be extremely spiteful in the office.
I'd gone into the office for another catch up meeting and I felt the entire office stare at me and then began talking amongst themselves, clearly about me. I felt extremely uncomfortable so that was the last time I ever worked for the company.
About the clients and 'paid petrol'...
I got promised paid petrol which was total bull. The 3 clients I had were missions away from my house so this was extremely frustrating and upsetting.
What was even more upsetting is how little they care about the clients, 2 out of 3 of my clients and the family's of had nothing but bad things to say about the management.
They were so little help in any situation.
If I was ill with covid symptoms they would tell me that I still had to go and see the clients but I would refuse.
Another carer was asked to do the same but she didn't refuse and for that her client ended up in the hospital with covid she had transmitted from the carer.
One of my clients was struggling and was clearly extremely unwell and wasn't at all himself. As a new carer I called the office to ask what I should do (like they asked) their response being "Typical Peter, always something up. Just give him his dinner and put him to bed."
I didn't, instead I called and ambulance. They had a go saying that I shouldn't of done that and that there was no need. THEN I found out he actually had a really bad infection on his brain. So thank f*** for me and f*** those in the office.
I could honestly go on and on about all their s*** but I don't have the time.
All I can say is, if you work for this company or hire them for a family member after reading this, shame on you!
