Unreliable when I actually needed it – left without data on arrival in Spain
Installed the Holiday.com eSIM before travelling to Spain and relied on it for data on arrival. My iPhone connected to a network and showed 5G, but there was absolutely no internet connection/data and i remained ‘offline’. This left my family without access to important accommodation information on arrival and temporarily locked out — stressful, costly and potentially unsafe. Holiday.com support went through troubleshooting but couldn’t get it working and we ended up getting nowhere. Once I found Wi-Fi, I purchased an Airalo eSIM on the same phone and it worked immediately. An international travel eSIM needs to be reliable when you arrive. Unfortunately, based on this experience, I wouldn’t trust (I’d outright avoid) Holiday.com as my primary travel eSIM again.
