Undisclosed limitations of service and a combative sole owner / operator - too unstable for important email use
it's important to realize hobohost.com is not an organization of multiple employees with redundancies, but a SINGLE PERSON (see their linkedin.com profile and Florida public records for hobohost.com LLC). This sole owner operator also appears to have a regular full time job outside of hobohost.com which likely further limits their ability to provide service promptly. The owner fields all support requests themself and is very slow to respond even to highest priority tickets. Repeated phone calls went unanswered and days after leaving voicemails there have been no attempts at callback. This is not at all apparent from their web page which gives the impression of a more reliably operated business. Also noteworthy, per the owner's written admissions, the entire "company" sends mail from a single IP address, which poses considerable risk to email deliverability and reliability. Their "floor" level account also limits users to only 10 total emails per hour which is not disclosed anywhere on their site. The provider inappropriately disabled my account without warning claiming violation of terms, yet failed repeatedly to correctly cite any term that was violated, refused to acknowledge evidence i provided, and repeatedly declined to provide any evidence of their own. their email is not configured properly by default which results in its messages going to spam (spf failures). my handful of attempts to fix my domain's dns configuration before sending a support ticket seemed to have upset their owner who ignored my support request and instead opted to disable my account. The time and disruption from their negligent behavior far outweigh any benefit of their cheap services. stay away if your email working reliably is important. Edit 1: Hobohost is additionally declining to refund undelivered services pending their attempt to dispute my negative review. Edit 2: vendor has baselessly disputed my review as defamatory. I've revised this review to include additional details. customers should note that their email account carries an undisclosed 10 email per hour limit. An accidental attempt at exceeding this limit caused my outgoing emails to be blocked and triggered the owner's suspension of my account. Owner also disclosed that the entire hobohost service / company operates its email sending from a single ip address, which is a considerable volatility prospective customers should consider. Edit 3: False, False, False. Owner's reply to this review directly contradicts multiple written messages and log evidence of the incident. No policy was violated as evidenced by their own logs (which the owner can't be bothered to review or simply lacks the technical ability to understand). Their reply follows multiple attempts to disqualify my review via increasingly silly means, all of which were overruled by TrustPilot. After days of nonsense disruption, the owner offered to continue my service but continued to refuse to acknowledge evidence provided or offer any valid justification for the disruption of my service. Just one lazy contradiction after another. Laughable considering I was fully setup with another vendor within hours of the incident - too little too late. This is not a serious vendor anyone should trust with their business services.
Response from HoboHostFeb 19, 2026
There are several factual inaccuracies in this review that should be clarified. HoboHost is a small business, and we are proud of that. The fact that there is a single listed owner does not mean the company lacks infrastructure, support resources, or operational capability. Many customers intentionally choose smaller providers for direct accountability and consistent service. Despite the statements in this review, the associated websites remain hosted on our servers and the account continues to be active and accessible. There was no full termination of service, only outbound mail restrictions tied to shared server safeguards. The services remain in use. The claim that we operate from a single IP address is incorrect. Like virtually all shared hosting providers, outbound mail is handled through shared IP pools within shared infrastructure. This is standard across the industry. Outbound safeguards, including hourly sending thresholds, exist to protect deliverability and server reputation for all customers on shared infrastructure. In this case, multi-recipient testing activity triggered automated protections that are applied consistently across accounts. Regarding support responsiveness, the ticket record reflects responses within minutes to hours, including multiple same-day replies throughout the exchange. While jw disagreed with the enforcement decision, the assertion that requests were ignored or significantly delayed is not consistent with the documented timeline. Refund eligibility is governed strictly by our published refund policy and Terms of Service and is not contingent upon review content. We understand that jw disagrees with our enforcement decision. However, shared infrastructure requires consistent safeguards to protect all customers.
