HireVue’s chatbot prevented me from completing a job application
I had a frustrating experience using HireVue for an Allied Universal job application. The chatbot repeatedly displayed a message asking whether I wanted to restart or continue the conversation. I tried multiple responses, including “Restart,” “1. Restart,” and “Yes, restart the conversation,” but the chatbot never responded or allowed me to proceed.
An interview platform should help applicants complete the hiring process, not leave them stuck on a screen with no way forward. This technical issue has made it difficult to continue my application.
I hope HireVue addresses this problem and improves its support for applicants experiencing technical difficulties.

Customer service does exist at…
NO CUSTOMER SERVICE what so ever. Save your sanity and stay away from this place, it is run by AI and it is not good for anything at all except a headache. They should not exist.

Most disappointing interview format known to mankind
Horrible format that has no consideration for your time or actual relevant abilities. I recommended against applying at the company I interviewed for because I don’t feel it was a worthwhile use of two hours. Two hours! I wasn’t paid or given a rubric, and it feels like a waste of my time for absolutely no reason at all. Even if I get the job, I never want to have to go through Hirevue heck again. Horrible experience from start to finish.
Don’t like your response? Too bad, you can’t change your responses. Have a question about the position? Too bad. Have a question about accommodations for a disability? Too bad. This format treats you like a child. It is a horrible way for companies to screen candidates, but a great way to get the top qualified candidates to move on to a different company who doesn’t use Hirevue.
I’ve worked for this employer before and know it’s a great place to work. I would refer others, but now that they have implemented Hirevue, I’ve told everyone I would normally refer they don’t want to work there due to the cumbersome Hirevue interview.

Kind of hard to give much more than…
Kind of hard to give much more than 1-star when an application through their software sends an email with a section: "Need help link to(Hirevue Help Center)" and their bot provides common sense answers (remove cache, refresh page, try different browser), followed by a "call the company HR you are applying to".
Oh, even better when you consider that the issue is from a digital signature that results in "Name contains invalid characters" when you have only name letters and spaces. Hirevue's rationale and response? "The company applied to configured this incorrectly, so you must call them. We can't fix configuration issues." Just a question: who is the software provider that would generally check for QA errors like this? Couldn't Hirevue at least look into product improvement and what might have gone wrong in case the issue is something through their software?
I think it is fair to say this experience = 1 star review (or maybe less)?

weird interview process, I don’t understand it. There’s not really any opportunity to display your skills, all I had was 2 minutes to explain my past experience and then the rest was multiple choice questions which were pointless. I find it difficult to express myself and talk about my experience to a camera, it feels a bit awkward to me and unauthentic. And the games at the end were so ridiculous. It didn’t demonstrate anything and it was a complete waste of time in my opinion. If you have relevant experience but did poorly in the games you wouldn’t get the role? weird interview process

I interviewed for Hirevue as a renewal…
I interviewed for Hirevue as a renewal specialist, and they used their own product "On Demand Video" interview. The "bot" interview started with asking me to introduce myself, which could be re-recorded. The second step were two games: finding and comparing the patterns on the cubes. The second game's object was to input number and / or letters on the screen as they are presented. My question is why are games used to assess a candidate's ability, background and skill? I have had great success in my career and I hoped that they would have cared about my expertise. After I completed the games, I told myself Hirevue is not a company I want to work for because I do not like their product. I decided not to complete the video. It was too impersonal and gamified for my liking.

“I found the HireVue digital interview…
“I found the HireVue digital interview platform challenging. The system can feel impersonal, and technical issues like video or audio glitches sometimes affected the experience. Additionally, answering pre-recorded questions without real-time interaction made it harder to express myself naturally. While I understand it helps streamline recruitment, I believe some candidates may perform better in a live or in-person interview setting.”

Exploitative Intellectual Property Rights Agreement
HireVue imposes on candidates an unreasonable mandatory user agreement (see below the quoted language), which transfers the ownership of the intellectual property and any other content a candidate might share during interview to HireVue. That means, if you interview with HireVue, you won't even own your likeness anymore, let alone any original ideas or fresh perspectives. Not only they can use them without permission from you, but also they can go after you with their lawyers if anything like a patent application or business competition comes up in the future.
In other words, this is exploitative and sinister, and everyone who is pushed to interview through this horrible company should just say no.
The relevant part of the user agreement is provided below.
