The onboarding process was a bit confusing. There didn't seem to be any real chapter leadership. I want a local chapter that is going to have regular meetings online or in person and that wasn't the case here. Also, when I asked about in-person events I was told it was the members' responsibility to put them together. I don't have time for that nor do I want to do that. I want to join a networking group that takes care of the details and brings people together for networking! Also, the two events that I did go to were poorly run. They were shopping and exercise events -- not what I would call business networking. I did not see the value of being a member so I didn't continue with the group.

I had a so-so experience as a member, and then a pretty bad cancellation experience. I had signed up at the introductory rate and did not plan on renewing. I'd forgotten to cancel before the auto-renew hit my account -- this was really stressful because we just happened to be in a really precarious financial situation between jobs and right after the holidays. I reached out that day as soon as I saw the transaction and was told that "as a one-time courtesy", HeyMama would allow me to cancel, but I'd have to pay $75 in processing fees. I can't imagine why it costs HeyMama that much to remove my email/login. The language was also really confusing --- at first glance, for me, it read as though I'd be partially refunded at $275, and then also charged an additional $75 in cancellation fees. It took a couple emails back and forth to get clarity on that. It was frustrating and time-consuming, and I was still out $75 just to cancel in a time of financial stress for my family. As a member, I joined to find mentorship and community in my industry to assist me in a career change, but found it to be challenging and time consuming. I was also attracted by the prospect of being in a community of women supporting and lifting each other up. What I for the most part found were posts from online coaches that read more like ads. It's not impossible to find mentorship and community there, and if you are in the virtual assistant or digital marketing space, there are often job postings there and a warm referral, but for me, I didn't find it all that different than what I can do within a free site like Linkedin. I did find a job through HeyMama, and there were online events every so often that were a good way to meet people, and even a couple in person events in my area, but for me in my industry, they weren't valuable enough to justify the full cost of membership.

Requested to cancel the day my subscription renewed and was charged a $75 fee. Considering there is no physical product, and this is an organization that claims to "have your back" rah rah I can't think of a less friendly policy towards a busy mom during back to school time.

Hi, I want to be honest about this feedback because I genuinely want to support for businesses that invest in women; however, the experience that I had with HeyMama from the outset was poor. I'm a stay at home mom with aspirations to start a business someday, so when I entered into a trial period with HeyMama, I was doing it to check it out and get a flavor for the offerings. The unfortunate place where I screwed up was not reading the fine print because the trial offering was instead a full-year contract at $35 a month. When I contacted you requesting a break, you didn't give one. It's fine that you have OH to pay for and I get that with running a business like this, contract terms are critical for projecting cashflow. Perhaps you should be a bit more lenient with your contract terms on newcomers. If your platform and offering is extraordinary, then they will return. Unfortunately, I haven't made up my mind if its worth returning to or not.

I was unable to pay my monthly fees due to my husband losing his job due to covid and no one from hey mama contacted me or reached out to me with concern. My membership just expired due to non-payment.

I was unaware that when I signed up to be a part of the community, that I was bound for one year. I was unable to make many of the events because of competing priorities; I requested a cancellation but was denied. Basically, I purchased a membership that served no purpose, not to mention a waste of money. As a single mom, that did not bold well. The sign up needs to be clearer and have built in parameters to opt out if the community is not fit. I would have loved to try again next year, when things calmed down for me, but after this experience, I have no further interest.

I signed up but haven’t connected with many people and google emails I get are just a little confusing on what we’re suppose to do. I’ve responded a few times and although I didn’t expect to get immediate sales, for a networking group I was hoping it would increase my business sales or referrals and I could do the same for other mamas but right now my experience feels very disconnected if I’m being honest.
