Medicare patients take note
Medicare patients take note: Henry Ford Health took over MSU Internal Medicine and the billing has changed, charging extra because "chronic conditions" were discussed, managed and treated during an annual visit, which is paid for by Medicare. Discussions about these "conditions" lasted less than a minute. - The doctor asked about a hip and I said it was fine. - I told the doctor I made an appointment for a dermatology screening. - I asked when I last had an electrocardiogram. MSU Internal Medicine never charged for such minor mentions. Henry Ford's billing clerk said their coders scan the doctor's notes for billing opportunities, which seems intrusive. So I will bring up no issues during my next annual exam and likewise forbid the doctor from doing the same. And I will likewise advise the doctor to use caution with taking notes.
