Absolutely terrible experience
Absolutely terrible experience! I spoke with Carmille Beauvais, and she was not only rude but completely unprofessional. During our video call, she refused to show her face, which was incredibly frustrating. She offered no helpful advice or insight, and was of no assistance whatsoever. I am beyond disappointed! I specifically requested a doctor's note for the previous day, as the website stated there were no available appointments, leaving me unable to get the note my child needed for their absence. I will never use this service again.

Do not use this. I repeat. Stay AWAY.
Do not use this. Please look at reviews before you use this telehealth company. I’d stay away from telehealth in general unless it’s from your primary care physician you can physically meet in person. This company is a scam. They take your information and don’t even tell you that they’re about to start your appointment or give you the option to opt out. I did not even want to use this site, but there’s no way to stop it once I put in my name and information. They will charge you or your insurance 500 dollars. Then they will charge you again, and they will harass you constantly. I never even met with a doctor, and I never even got a prescription filled through them. Please report them to the Better Business Bureau. It only takes a few minutes of your time, but they need to be dealt with. This is a shady company that is taking advantage of people in regards to something like their health, which is very sinister. If you have been scammed by them already, please contact the better business bureau. The more complaints they get, the more likely it is that these frauds will be taken care of.

Helix VM is a scam!
Helix VM is a scam! I wasn't feeling good and was unable to get local medical care due to the large amount of patients. I tried Helix VM Telehealth without doing any research because I needed some help quickly because I was sick. I was given a brief chat with an AI bot, no diagnosis, no treatment or any conversation or interaction with a real doctor. Nothing was done. Helix VM not only billed my Medicaid insurance but billed me as well! This insurance has zero copays, I didn't even get to talk to a licensed medical professional or upload any photos or records. Now Helix VM keeps harassing me to pay a $78 bill! It was originally agreed upon to pay $2 fee to use Helix VM Telehealth service, and that my insurance would cover my virtual doctor's visit costs. This fraudulent company now keeps sending emails using legal jargon and fraudulent agreement forms to try to intimidate me into paying money for this faulty service! They keep trying to charge my card multiple times since! This company is a ripoff! This is the lowest of the low scammers who prey on the sick! I've reported them to the FTC and I encourage everyone else that's been conned by them to do the same immediately! Avoid this rotten, fraudulent company and its rotten people at all costs!

HORRIBLE BILLING!!! FAKE REVIEWS!!! FORCED VISITS FOR MONEY!!!!
I'll start by saying that it was my intention to leave them a Google review, yet I cannot find a way to do so. Their website has a section for "Google reviews" full of glowingly positive reviews and even a little text blurb that says "Leave us a Google review," yet that blurb is not a link and does not go anywhere. These "Google reviews" on their website are very obviously fake and do not actually exist.
Now, on to my experience: I developed COVID-19 symptoms on 12/17/24 and tested positive on 12/18/24. I Googled "Paxlovid prescription without visit" and Helix was the first option that came up. Their website was well-organized and said they took 60 different insurance plans, mine (Cigna) included. I filled out their survey and expected to get a prescription without any hassle. However, at the end of filling out their online survey that took me nearly 45 minutes to complete, I was advised that I did not qualify to get a prescription without a telehealth visit and that they had scheduled one for me in 30 minutes. I was very sick and desperate (and afraid, as I have several comorbidities that put me at higher risk of severe infection), so I elected to go forward with the telehealth visit, since I knew they took my insurance (per their website). I saw a provider for less than 10 minutes and they sent my prescription.
Fast forward to a few weeks ago, my insurance sends me an explanation of benefits showing that Helix tried to charge them $1500 for the 10 minutes they spent with me. $1500!!!! My insurance, of course, denied this. My insurance also stated they were absolutely not paying any of the bill because this provider was not in network with my insurance. When viewing the statement that was sent 1/16/25 from Helix, it states that they billed Medical Mutual (my insurance in the state of Ohio). It is written very clearly on the back of my insurance card that any services received outside of the state of Ohio are to be billed to Cigna instead. Helix did not do this and because of that, the claim was denied in full. Now, Helix "wrote off" over $1400 and left me with a balance of $78.75, but this is incorrect. If Helix really is in network with Cigna, this visit needs to be charged to Cigna and then they would ultimately leave me with a $40 copay, which is what I pay at all urgent cares, including virtual ones. The only exception is if I have testing done, which Helix did not do for me on any level. I am currently very busy caring for my wife whom just had surgery, so I figured I would address this when we get home next week and I would take care of everything then. After all, I just got the statement on 1/16.
Now, I received an email at 4:23 AM on 1/18/25 stating that Helix would be charging my credit card on file on 1/19/25 for the $78.75 and that if I had any issues with this, I could call a number listed in the email. I have called this number several times today and have yet to reach a human being. It always goes to voicemail. It states that you should not expect a response for 7-10 BUSINESS DAYS! So you'll give me less than 24 hours' notice before charging me nearly $100 very unexpectedly, but then give me no way of communicating with you that your billing is incorrect or asking for you to delay charging my card until I have the proper funds at the end of this week. Absolute trash!!!
I am FURIOUS that this company is obviously not experienced in medical billing and that they are going to take money from me without allowing me to take care of the balance when I am able to (which I would, IF IT WAS CORRECT!). I am furious that I was basically forced into doing a telehealth visit when their website advertised that one was not needed. I am also angry that there is no where for me to leave a proper review since their Google business page very obviously does not exist and the reviews on their website are very obviously FAKE. DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY!!!!!

Fraudulent company, looking into class action
First, I am not a lawyer. This is not legal advice. You should contact a lawyer if you seek legal advice. I have reached out to one regarding Medicaid fraud, and am looking into one for a personal suit regarding fraudulent billing. None of this information contains advice from a lawyer.
I simply needed a prescription refill. I'm in the process of changing primary care doctors and needed a regular medication refilled. It is not controlled and serves one specific purpose only; not abusable. I chose Helix Medical because they advertise they accept insurance and it was the first link on Google.
I filled out the information, including the dosage I take and the reason I take it. I submitted it and waited. A while later I got an email that my prescription had been filled. I logged into HelixVM and saw the diagnosis was exactly for what I told them I was taking the medication for. There was a treatment plan instructing me to take the medication as prescribed (which I provided the dosages), an order for lab work, and a referral to a specialist. I understand that some of it is required to be compliant, but I had no intention to continue or establish care with them.
Something about it felt off though. So I searched and found these TrustPilot reviews. My heart sank. I was worried about becoming another story here. So I contacted them (helixcares.com is the same company, and they have a contact form). I told them I had read reviews and while I wasn't accusing them of anything because I didn't know each person's story, I didn't want to be a victim and requested that they remove the payment information from their records. I received an automated respond within a couple days, notifying me that my payment information had been removed.
On Dec. 31, 2024, I received a notice of a statement from Helix Medical. When I logged in, I saw that there were 2x $500 charges (one for urgent care and one generic), and a $3.75 processing fee, dated Dec 7. On Dec 16, my insurance paid $23.76. On Dec 17, they added a "discount" of a $925 payment, leaving a remaining balance of $54.99.
On Jan 3, 2025, they charged my credit card for that $54.99. The same payment information they confirmed to have removed from their system. As of today (Jan 17), the payment has not been listed in my account and it still shows I have a balance of $54.99.
I happen to be on state Medicaid. My insurance is full coverage. I had contacted my insurance to get information about how much they tried to bill my insurance for. My insurance immediately told me that they can't do what they did. It's called "inappropriate billing". When they billed my insurance and accepted a payment from my insurance, they forfeit their ability to collect any payment from me. Add that on to the other things, and there's a pretty solid case of fraud here.
I can see that I'm not the only one. I highly suggest that anyone with insurance that has been billed, report this company and their practices to your insurance. If you were billed and do not have copays with your insurance, then they inappropriately billed you. Anyone whose insurance was billed by this company should be able to file a grievance against them.
If class action suit gets going, I'll be sure to mention these reviews to the attorneys to contact everyone here that has left a review, as I'm sure that each one of you also has evidence of your statements and any charges they put against your payment methods.
This company needs to be shut down ASAP.
Be sure to file a grievance with your insurance carriers. For charges you've been charged, you may want to contact your financial institutions and see if you can open a dispute for fraud, and provide all of this information to them. Hopefully we can get the attention necessary to stop this.
