Headstart Warranty Group handled my claim in bad faith.
Headstart Warranty Group handled my claim in bad faith. They delayed a decision for weeks, required the repair shop to perform an expensive engine teardown to identify the point of failure, and then denied coverage despite the findings they had requested.
Headstart claims that a lack of maintenance contributed to the engine failure. I have maintained the vehicle for nearly two years and provided printouts of my service and oil change records showing that the work was done on time. Headstart also claims the vehicle had a preexisting mechanical problem, but has not explained what that problem was or provided evidence showing that it caused the engine failure. I am asking Headstart to identify the specific evidence supporting both grounds for denial and reconsider my claim.

Avoid Headstart Warranty Group!!
Avoid Headstart Warranty Group at all costs – Do not purchase!
I am writing this review to express my deep dissatisfaction with the claims process at Headstart Warranty Group. If you are currently contemplating purchasing a policy from them, I strongly advise you to look elsewhere. Save yourself the stress and do not purchase this warranty at any cost—you will regret it big time.
My claim for my contracted vehicle repairs has been stuck in "pending" status for an unreasonable amount of time. While the repair shop has confirmed they have submitted all necessary documentation and the adjuster has verified the issues are covered, the company continues to stall.
I am constantly told that the repair shop has not provided all the required information, yet every time I follow up with the shop, they confirm that all the qualified information has been sent. It feels like a deliberate tactic to delay the process and avoid fulfilling the warranty agreement. I have been caught in the middle of these conflicting claims, and despite my efforts to bridge the communication gap, the company refuses to move forward.
I chose this warranty for peace of mind, but the experience has been the complete opposite. I am sharing this to warn others to be aware of how difficult it is to get a claim processed when the company uses these types of stalling tactics. I am still waiting for a prompt resolution to this matter, but I urge anyone considering this company to avoid them entirely

Scam
Scam, that's really all you need to know honestly. but if you want to understand why i'll tell you. they stole $1300 from me and it all started about half a year ago when i got a call that i should've avoided or hung up on as soon as i heard "car's extended warranty". but alas i did not. so now 6 months later they are spam calling me from different numbers asking why my auto payments aren't going through and it's because i disputed there charges as fraudulent cause they don't actually do anything, or at least they didn't for me at all. The people on the phone are so mean and harsh, i told one of them during me trying to cancel yesterday "you know, if you just look up your company's name on google the first thing you see is that you're a scam." and his response was "some people don't know how to follow instructions" absolute joke of a company. Please report anyone saying otherwise as a paid reviewer or a bot. Please head this warning about them.

We purchased a contract dec 2023
We purchased a contract dec 2023. In July policies was sold to Omega Auto Care. Since we paid in cash Amega would not except the policy. We received a letter from Omega to go back to seller for refund, which is fine but you can not speak too anyone in authority only customer service. They have sent info to the supervisor and his supervisor but never return calls. I even sent a letter to CEO but he never responded. So they actually took our cash and canceled the policy no refund. No wonder being a senior we have to fearful of any calls claiming the company is so good. I want a refund. Cheryl Stork They are familiar with the case but will not respond.

Denied transmission claim due to not having prior maintenance work
I purchased an extended warranty in January 2025 to protect against major breakdowns as a senior citizen on disability with a fixed income. In June 2025, I took my car to a repair facility due to shaking while driving. The diagnosis revealed I needed tie rods, axles, and a $7,000 transmission replacement due to black fluid and metal particles in the transmission.
The warranty company initially denied all claims, stating I had not had my transmission fluid flushed and filter changed at 150,000 miles. However, I have consistently maintained my vehicle to the best of my ability and knowledge. I change my oil every 3,000 miles with fluid level checks, rotate and balance tires regularly, and have had front-end alignments performed. I had transmission work done in November 2024 and 2023, and was told the transmission was in good condition both times.
As someone with limited automotive knowledge, I relied on professional mechanics for guidance. When I purchased this used car in 2019, I received no owner's manual or maintenance records from previous owners. No one explained specific maintenance requirements to me. Additionally, I have been dealing with ongoing medical issues and hospitalizations since 2009, which has made it challenging to stay informed about complex maintenance schedules.
I drive only locally for medical appointments, church, and grandchildren's events due to my medical condition. I do not drive under severe conditions or travel out of town.
After considerable back-and-forth, the warranty company finally approved repairs for the tie rods and axles but denied the transmission claim. However, my transmission is clearly covered under my warranty contract. I obtained two additional diagnoses, both confirming that I need transmission work immediately. One shop offered a rebuild option for approximately $4,500 instead of full replacement.
I requested that the warranty company reconsider covering at least partial transmission repairs, as I have no other vehicle and no funds to pay for this work myself. This is precisely why I purchased the extended warranty—to protect against such major expenses. I am not financially able to purchase another vehicle at this time.
After a two-week management review, I was informed that the transmission claim remains denied due to alleged failure to perform required maintenance. Furthermore, they stated that no future transmission repairs would be covered until I replace or repair the transmission at my own expense.
This creates an impossible situation: I cannot afford the repair without warranty coverage, yet the warranty company refuses to honor the coverage I paid for and requires me to pay out-of-pocket before they will consider future claims.
I feel I have been treated unjustly by this warranty company. Despite purchasing coverage specifically to protect against major repairs like this transmission work, they denied my legitimate claim based on maintenance requirements that were never clearly explained to me as a condition of coverage. The warranty company was fully aware that I had multiple professional inspections confirming my transmission was functioning properly, yet they retroactively applied standards I was never informed about.
As a senior citizen on disability with limited income, I specifically purchased this warranty to avoid the exact financial hardship I now face. Their refusal to honor what appears to be valid coverage has left me without reliable transportation and without means to make necessary repairs. This situation feels particularly unfair given my good faith efforts to maintain my vehicle and my reliance on professional mechanics' assessments.
