Andrew
I like this app. It is basically encouraging you to sit down and meditate for 15-20 minutes but what I like about it is the little explanations before each meditation. I suffer from anxiety and recently this got worse so bought the app. I have tried everything from acupuncture to reflexology but have found no definitive solution. I think apps like this have a place but are unfortunately not the panacea one might hope for. Initially my anxiety felt worse and I was worried that letting go of my emotions and not suppressing them might be a frightening experience. But things did improve and a wider range of memories and emotions found room alongside my anxiety. I’m hopeful this space might grow and I relearn how to be calm and harness my emotions and thoughts for greater health.

I never thought I could relax enough to meditate and while I do still worry I’m not ‘doing it right’ I really look forward to my headspace time and to Andy’s soothing and reassuring voice. My doctor actually recommended this to me or I probably wouldn’t have even tried, but the tone is so gentle and supportive and makes me feel normal when my mind wanders or I’m distracted. My only gripe is that the interface on iPhone is a little buggy - the notifications don’t appear in full so you get halfway through an inspirational message and can’t access the rest! The customer support is good too but again the interface there is a bit temperamental. Overall though I love it and can feel it changing me.

With this app I started and have continued a daily meditation practice for over one year, something I had been meaning to do for 20+ years. It is transforming my life. Probably many factors have contributed but generally this app has provided instruction and encouragement with a congenial, light touch and a totally secular approach to mindfulness practice. I am concerned that headspace recently did away w/ its program for providing the app for free to folks who cannot afford it.

Hi Will, Thank so much for your message. We are thrilled to know that you finally started your personal meditation journey and that it has made such a profound difference in your life. It warms us knowing that Headspace has been a part of that journey and we thank you for being a part of our community. While our philanthropic mission has shifted over the past few months, we are still donating to those in need. In fact, in 2018 we are focusing our efforts and giving a free Headspace subscription to working educators across the US and the UK. There will be much more information to come, so please stay tuned. If you have any questions in the meantime, please reach out to [email protected]. Mindfully yours, Headspace

it took me a while to get an idea of where I'm heading.. I'm still not" there" yet,but have a yearning to continue. The narration is soothing and encouraging..there were a few moments where the instructor seemed to be reading my thoughts. Looking forward to the coming sessions.

Hi Michael, Thanks very much for your note and we are pleased to hear that you have enjoyed your Headspace experience so far. It's okay if you're not "there" yet - learning to meditate is like learning any other skill, like driving a car - you don't expect to hit the motorway after your first few lessons. Be patient with yourself, and take it slowly and without expecting too much, too quickly. Also try to avoid judging your meditation. Never look for perfection in your meditation practice, simply keep going from one technique to the next as part of the journey and over time you will see the change. Most of all though, be kind to yourself and remember that we are talking about the body and mind letting go of habits of a lifetime. We are always here to provide guidance along the way, so please reach out to [email protected], as needed. Warmest regards, Headspace

Been using Headspace for almost 2 years, so you could say I like it. Actually, I love it and have recommended it to friends, with this proviso: it's kinda pricey, requiring a subscription ($8/mo or more) after the first free set of exercises. Recently they redesigned the app (not a big improvement in my opinion) but more importantly have added several new meditations with specific goals/topics. These are marginally valuable, as all the meditations follow a similar pattern. Still, I have to admit I do like to try various options since the small differences can be helpful. Is Headspace for you? Try the free intro series and see for yourself. Then you can decide if it's worth the investment.

Hi AWDSGN, Thanks you kindly for your feedback! The overall mission of Headspace is to improve the health and happiness of the world. Unfortunately, if we don't have a healthy business there is no way we can fulfill this mission. Headspace, like many businesses, has a significant amount of running costs in order for us to produce the web services, apps and many other products that we offer. We employ people in the US and the UK and they include animators, illustrators, project managers, finance controllers, customer experience representatives, a full internal engineering team as well as marketing and community managers to make sure the message gets to the right people. This doesn't include all the 3rd party suppliers that help us create all the content. We employ over 180 people and we have produced over 1000s hours of audio and video content for the Headspace Journey. Not to mention all the scientists that we work with to help us prove the validity of our products. All of these people have families, mortgages, rent and food to buy in order to live a healthy and happy life. We feel very proud that we can play a part in helping them live the life that allows them to be healthy and happy. We feel very comfortable with the fact that we charge for our product so we can continue to run a sustainable operation and we feel even more confident of our products' value. If you have any additional questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to [email protected]. Best wishes and mindfully yours, Headspace

I like the options. App works better recently. Sometimes seems repetitive but I assume is the nature of meditation

Hi Brenda, Thank you kindly for your note. Our latest update speaks to our evolution and learnings from the past seven years. The new Headspace is a more personalized experience and we are so happy to hear that you are enjoying it. It's true, some sessions will feel similar as they share techniques but remember, repetition is a great way to strengthen your practice. We also offer unguided meditations (more silence), available by going to the Unguided Classic session in the Singles library under the "Discover" section. We offer the Unguided Classic session in 10, 15, 20, 30, 45 or 60-minute options. Additionally, we have the Headspace Pro packs which are much less guided and have more silence than the other packs. These sessions are designed to deepen your meditation practice and give you a chance to practice on your own. Please reach out if you need any guidance along your meditation journey - [email protected]. Mindfully yours, Headspace

I find headspace easy to use and benifital. Although, my timing is not always in sync with Andy's. I find I have a very noisy mind and going through the pro modules is helping to quiet my mind and eliminates my conflict with Andy's timing.
