One of the best meditations apps! I use it everyday

I really like headspace. The reason I gave them a 4 was that my membership was autorenewed and I hadn't realise. I contacted them and they immediately canceled and a few months later I joined up again. I like their meditations, lots of choice and I found they really helped.

This meditation app in my opinion is better than all the others, more straightforward, better guidance, a lot less "touchy-feely" than others out there. I'd come a goodly way in my instruction and practice, which is central to my life now, whenI had an issue where the app crashed on my phone one morning last week. All my "data" was lost, and efforts on my part to fix it on my own came to no end, so I emailed their customer service people on a Sunday, got a reply on Monday asking for additional information--which I gave on Tuesday. That afternoon I got a reply with instructions to correct the issue, followed them this morning, Wednesday, and everything is back to normal. I see a bunch of negative reviews out there. Hopefully, this counterbalances them.

I had an annual subscription that I totally forgot to turn-off. I've got charge £71 in January and started emailing customer services without any success. Then, I tweeted them and got a reply straightaway. If you have an issue with them and need customer support, send them a direct message in Twitter and they will come back to you. I've got my £71 back.

I changed my review from one star to 4 after Headspace called me. I tried to contact them via email and had no response for one week then I decided to leave a voice mail to their number and then I got contacted back and sorted out the situation.

Headspace is a useful app that is a little pricy if you are not able to qualify for the student subscription. The app has several useful features that tap into CBT --based strategies. A number of the guided audio exercises are grounded in arousal reduction strategies that have a linty of literature supporting their efficacy in reducing anxiety, arousal, and ruminative tendencies. One of the most prominent arousal reduction strategies that are used as skills to help clients early on in therapy was featured in the app and are easy to use. A number of breathing exercises are available at varying lengths, asking the listener to breathe in, breathe out and hold their breath for a count of time. These instructions and the calming voice reminding you to "focus on the breath" help signal "safety signals" to your otherwise tense state. I found these audio guides especially useful when lying in bed and experiencing racing thoughts or a racing heart beat. Listening to the guided exercise for 3 minutes or more was usually helpful for me to slow down my breathing and associate my bedtime routine with one of relaxation. Doing this consistently over the nights really helped build my sleep hygiene. Another more acceptance-based strategy that is more in line with ACT models of therapy is also used by Headspace. A nightly exercise they call "Noting" is another guided-audio experience where the listener is instructed to count to ten and focus on the breath. At the same time the listener is instructed to "allow thoughts to come and go" and to "gently acknowledge them" and then return to the breath. This app encourages mindfulness and acceptance strategies such that the goal of this particular exercise is not to stop intrusive thoughts or change them, but to briefly acknowledge their presence and move on. The "Noting" exercise was especially useful for nights where I felt especially ruminative and like I could not stop thinking about a particular worry.

I originally subscribed for a year at a discounted rate. I loved the app and initially used it frequently. However as the year has passed through no fault but my own I have not used it as much and made the decision not to renew the subscription. HOWEVER BEWARE as others have mentioned they renew the subscription without any prior notice ( I did not receive any 30 day warning email ) . They also charged me the full price and I think as another reviewer pointed out how does that encourage loyal customers to stay? I give 2 stars not because of the app as I have no complaints about that but because of the terrible customer service and the sneaky automatic renewal system. Reviewed after my money was refunded however I still think the renewal method is wrong

The free service is excellent and I am really tempted to sign up to the years membership but the automatic re-billing that others have pointed out with no apparent warning is a terrible business practise that only upsets customers and this has made me think twice. I have emailed Headspace about this and I am awaiting a response. If this issue is addressed then I will sign up to the paid service and amend this 3 star review. Thank you for your response, that is useful. I think as a default setting the renewal shouldn't be automated as people's sign up should always be an active choice but at least you can turn this option off to avoid unwanted charges. Thank you
