I signed up for a $1,600 course through Hands-On Companies. Within 48 hours, I canceled my registration — well in advance of the course date — and I never accessed any materials. Despite this, I was told I was within 4 weeks of the course, which, according to their cancellation policy (buried in hyperlinks on the course page and terms & conditions), means they would only offer a credit toward another course, and deduct 50% as an admin fee. To be “generous,” they waived the admin fee — but still refused to issue a refund. What’s most concerning: When I first signed up, I was told I needed to submit proof I had completed a prior prerequisite course. I never submitted this, yet they were happy to take my payment — and keep it after cancellation — even though I technically wasn’t eligible in the first place. That feels ethically questionable, and inconsistent with their own enrollment process. I can’t support a company that handles customers this way — it reflects poorly on their integrity and transparency.
