The door arrived in great condition and had easy to follow installation instructions. The dual flaps and magnets seal up the opening every time. Time will tell if it lasts but it is by far the best door I have purchased, this is my 3rd one, first one from Hale. My only complaint is that I wish the inside shutter was made of steel or something more sturdy. The hard plastic is tough but I think it could be kicked in without too much effort. The clicking sounds of the magnets when it closes spooked my biggest dog who is afraid of most loud noises so she needed a little training in order to use the door. Perhaps something to think about if you have a similar issue with your pet before you buy. She got over it pretty quickly, however.

I've had Hale Pet Doors for 15+ years. They are quality and generally last. Installation is pretty simple with basic construction skills (through the wall). My only reservations is that over time (several years) my silicone door flaps shrank from the sun, and leaked at the edges. I bought a replacement flap kit ($188 JUST for the replacement kit) and the mounting screws were not long enough. I fixed it with a trip to Home Depot, but for that price you'd think everything would fit, right?! ....It is in, and seems to be working with the new $1 screw kit.

It's a good product.. My fur baby took him about 3 to 5 days in learning how to use it..Now he can go in and out with the pet door with ease.

It's scary to think about punching a hole through your wall and masonry. The directions were great and the install went smoothly. Dog loves the door! The only reason I didn't give it five stars was because of the fuzzy black flap trim. It bunches together and doesn't appear to be that good of quality. Otherwise great door.

The original door lasted 10 years before the flaps started curling where the magnets weren't really doing much good. The replacement flap kit arrived quickly and with very clear instructions for installation. However, the flaps have a metal bar at the top that is riveted into place so that the flaps are not held solely by the screws holding the flap into the door. I had to drill through 3 of those rivets in order to re-use the screw points on the door frame out of the 8 total holes I needed to make. How hard is it to ensure the rivet placement on the flaps are in a consistent position on the flaps and that the installers drill their mounting holes in spaces that don't conflict with those rivets?

I already emailed a comment to the company, but got no response. I would have thought that with today's technology, they could have come up with an instructional video like most of their competitors. At a minimum, they could have printed instructions with more than just a rudimentary drawing. Pictures of the parts would have been helpful to make sure you have everything. Turns out I was missing some items, but since I didn't know exactly what I was looking for, I didn't realize it until after the 48 hours they give you to check out everything. So, I guess it is on me. Frankly, I expected better from a "Made in the USA" company. I have seen better instructions translated by the Chinese. Granted, it was not a complicated install, but I would have liked to have had a better idea of what parts I was supposed to get.

We bought a small medium wall door for our two cats that were used to going in and out through an open back door. Got sick of the flies so got a pet door. Good looking and solidly built. Spoiled cats go to the door and wait for us to push the flaps open😕🙄. So we took one flap off but they are still hesitant to push through the other one. May have to remove the magnets. But for non-spoiled cats, this door would be perfect.
