I ordered 2 replacement flaps and they only shipped one. I'm still waiting for the second one. You would have thought they would have expedited this missing one, but I'm still waiting. The original order was placed May 6. Today is 5-23. Also their products are extremely overpriced. $129 for 2 replacement flaps is excessive.

this was hard to review. I think Hale makes a quality pet door(although you will pay for it), but the installation of the universal door was very difficult. the instructions were impossible on my screen door. I was able to install it, but I had to cut part of the door which voided the warranty, but in the end, I think it may be stronger than their install.

Happy that they have a warranty program for replacement flaps but they are still expensive for the Giant flaps when I need to replace them almost every year. We have had several Hale doors in various homes and with different sized dogs. The Giant flaps tear at the top corner. Hale customer service is aware of this problem. Initially, the rep was sure my Danes were too tall. We installed this Giant door in this home about 5 inches from the floor. So, the Danes are actually 3-4" shorter than the top of the door flap. With that, they agreed the door is the appropriate size. And, they have no fix for the flaps tearing except for me to purchase new flaps almost every year under the warranty which eventually will be full price. **2016--The original installer is coming over to install the replacement flaps and he suggested rounding out the corners of the metal edge at the top where the flaps attach. We are hoping this will solve the problem.

I purchased a custom pet ramp to be attached outside for our blind dog to be able to use the doggy door which has an 11 inch drop to the ground. The installation instructions and parts are very unclear. The ramp is still sitting in the corner of a room and the dog is still unable to get in and out of the house. Update - I never was able to install the pet door, so I wasted over $100. The dog learned to jump out the doggy door even though she was totally blind. The dog has since died. The ramp was a good idea, but turned out to be impractical.

My daughter recommended this door and I love it by her. It is very easy for her Shiba Inu dog. By us it is still not installed so for that reason i cannot give ou any feedback yet. My best regards, Ida M. Eckert

Hard to sallow $450.00 plus for a door. The install went very smooth I just took my time. Shorty after the door was operable, I noticed that placing the security panel (hard plastic door) into position was becoming more difficult. After further review, I found in several places on three sides, (Both sides and bottom) of frame had been malformed and as a result the channel that the security doors slides along had been squeezed or pinched. I believe the dogs going in and out of the door and running into or bumping into the sides and bottom of frame is the only thing that makes sense. The extrusion is not strong enough in my observation. Now that I was able to replace the doors, weather stripping and magnets without having to leave the house and after several years of use, made the $450 plus a little easer to accept. The door looks like new and closes like old. Just my experience...

I was completely satisfied with my original purchase of the Hale pet door. But after years of use I needed to replace the flap. I ordered the correct size that would fit my door, but it never fit as well as the original. Even after adjusting the magnets several times, there are always gaps for air and bugs to come through. $50 for a replacement flap that is poor quality is a huge disappointment. I refuse to purchase another whole pet door from Hale. I will be looking elsewhere.

The door is a fabulously constructed door. However, even though I specified that the our screen door was over a 1/2 inch (as per the ordering instructions), the kit to install it didn't work. I called the company and they offered to send me a different door (that was an older model that they don't offer for sale any longer) after I sent the original door back. They insisted that our door just wouldn't work for their installation kit. My husband is a mechanical engineer and he couldn't make heads or tails of the kit they sent us even after reading the on-line instructions. He engineered some brackets to install it. It works like a charm, but beware the installation of the "screen door" model.
