I went to the Hair Cuttery and went to Glam by Jordan in Spfld I. I showed her a picture of what I wanted. During the consultation explained my last beautician used bleach on my hair she did tell me I needed my haircut because it was fried. She said nothing about the color. Once she did the color my roots are so dark they are totally different than the rest of the hair. But after the color foils were taken off she then said it was because of my porous hair that it didn't turn out the way she wanted. When I contacted Hair Cuttery the manager dismissed me and said I had to deal with the stylist and that she would correct the color. When I contacted the beautician she said she would fix the bad haircut which it is longer on one side because I part it on one side and she cut it when it was parted down the middle. But she said that was the only thing that she would fix.... she explained to me that during the consultation that the color may not take which is totally wrong! She did not explain that to me until AFTER the color! There's not a bit of blonde in my hair it is dull grayish Brown except for the roots which are dark brown. The picture had caramel color really light blonde color and some dark brown . It's nothing not even close to what I asked for . Do not trust this place and do not trust the management. I feel like I was duped and spent $ 160. But then I did give her a $50 tip because she really tried and took almost 3 hours. She was young and I felt sorry for her but I really thought they would at least have me come back and put some blonde in my hair but nope she said she would cut it but not correct the color.

I worked there over 14 years the famous Daisy! The one that has the most reviews here! This company discriminate Is a hostile work environment Toxic culture, unsanitary, etc. this company does not value their employees or what they are worth. The best stylist are the older experienced stylist. Please continue to support them !management. Here is horrible. I have gone to them for years until a few years ago.It looks uneven every time since they don't know how to cut outside of thin/straight and my hair is the opposite. I wanted to get a professional cut since currently my hair is a bit different and requires less time to cut right. It's now $50+ for a basic wash, cut and dry which is absurd. I was paying $35 including tip for one before prices were hiked up everywhere. I started cutting my hair at home instead for a nearly identical look for free along with no entitled tips.

First, my hair cut was uneven so I had to pay for another cut at another salon. The same Hair Cuttery stylist did my keratin treatment and ruined my natural hair color. I ended up with a large area of orangey red hair and also lemon yellow which was shocking. Helen admitted she used the wrong type of shampoo and also the wrong flat iron. What the F—-? She never apologized for her careless screw up. I’ll never go back to Hair Cuttery in Glen Allen; you’re wise to avoid Hair Cuttery also.

I had the absolute worst experience ever. I am going through brain cancer and lost half my hair and I wanted highlights done to match my gray which being that I'm a redhead, looks like light blonde/white. Joanne was supposed to highlight my hair for my sister's wedding. We met with her a couple weeks prior and she quoted me $90 for the dye job only. She said over and over she could do a good job at the cost of $90. I already had a cut booked elsewhere. Before I left from the consultation I said to her several times that I was saving the price she quoted me on my phone and asked her to not change day of since I was flying out of DE days after the appointment. She agreed and looked at my calendar on my phone with the price shown and she promised she could do the job and would keep it at that price. Fast forward to 5/15/26. I shower up at 1:45pm for our appointment and she wasn't there. The other girl Alex said she'd be there at 2pm. While I was waiting, a nicely dressed man walked towards the door to leave and asked if I'd been helped. I let him know I was waiting for Joanne. I introduced myself and he said his name was Shane. I asked him about the coupon online for 40% your first due job with hair cuttery and asked if that includes the entire dye job and only highlights. He said yes, it just had to be your first time getting a dye job there. I specifically asked if the discount only applies to the dye not the toner and everything else needed for a complete dye job and he said the entire dye job was discounted. Something along those lines but he 💯 confirmed this. I later found out he was the district manager. He left and Joanne eventually showed up at 2:20pm. It is May and she shows up wearing a black sweater dress with a snowman on the front. She and the other lady laughed about it. I should have ran out then. I sat down and she puts on this act that she remembers me, but I could tell she had no idea who I was, what I was there for and I'm sure not the price she quoted me. There was a bit of a language barrier but she seemed to understand enough to do my syw job, and another lady there recommended her when I initially called weeks before. So I'm trying to explain what I wanted done, showed her half my hair was missing due to brain cancer radiation and she again pretends to remember me. She takes me over to wash my hair, then I sit in her chair and she asks me what I'd like done. I said we met a week ago and told her the price she quoted me and she said ok and started to look nervous. She goes to the register to calculate the cost and said it would actually be $120, not $90. I never mentioned the coupon cause I knew she'd do a bad job if I did, but she changed the price she quoted me during our consultation and I was not ok with this. I find out Alex is jer boss and this is why she had to change the initial cost she quoted me. Alex had to stop cutting another customers hair to come and discuss everything with me and Joanne. I told her the details and Joanne kept denying quoting me that price. Alex told her since she quoted me that price she had to honor it and Joanne kept lying about it. My hair is bright red and the left side looks shaved cause my hair is missing and she's still saying she doesn't remember me. She finally agreed to the price she quoted me and I turned around and she said she was sorry she couldn't do the highlights. She said she wouldn't be able to get it the right color. She said over and over she could do it during the first meeting. I was furious since I was leaving to CA in a few days to be in my sister's wedding and Joanne was the one who told me to wait until closer to the day I flew out of state. I asked them for the corporate number and Alex said no and Joanne went in the back to find it and never came back. I told Alex I wasn't leaving without the number. Joanne finally came back to give me the number. Hair cuttery is the worst place out there. Don't go unless you want a cruddy experience.

I went to Florida for a job assignment in February 2026 . I had stopped by on 02/03/2026 to get my hair done . Full roots touch up and during the consultation a stylist name “ Ruth “ assured me of a wonderful experience with no damage. I’ve trusted the business. I was there for 3/12 hours. My hair was so damaged that all was lost in a portion of my back . I was put under a dryer with bleach & the stylist took on 6 other clients meanwhile My hair was being fried without repair. Even my shirt was bleached completely. On top was charged almost $300 . It was so bad that ended up adding extensions to cover this once back in Texas . I firmly believe they shouldn’t been in business . I have pictures and the receipt of such nightmare.

The front-desk experience is the only reason for this rating. Each time I come in, the woman up front asks for my phone number. I politely decline because I value my privacy, and instead of simply respecting that, she becomes direct, rude, and visibly irritated. That is not acceptable customer service. If a customer says no to providing personal information, that should be respected immediately without pressure, attitude, or comments about how it makes an employee’s job harder. The rest of the staff have been excellent, which makes this stand out even more. But the person at the front desk needs to learn how to respect a customer’s boundaries.

I had the worst experience at the Skokie IL location. I went in for a simple one color, light brown and the stylist damaged my hair so bad. It was deep black with a huge red blotch and looked like a straw wig. A different hair cuttery tried to fix it but was concerned my hair would fall out so I went almost a year spending hundreds of dollars on hair cuts and products to save my hair. I emailed the CEO-Erik Bakken and he is ignoring me. GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE-NOT! Hair Cuttery is responsible for their stylist and take none. I have been fighting for a refund since 2024
