Major financial loss due to misrepresentation by car dealer
Govdeals is an international online auction site and, as such, customers bid on assets from long distances with virtually no opportunity to inspect the assets. They have to rely on honest descriptions of the assets. I recently purchased a truck which was deceptively described and when it was delivered found it needed over $12,000 in repairs. This amount combined with my purchase cost put the total cost well above it's value. The dealer includes a statement in their Ts and Cs that any claim for misdescription must be made prior to removal of the property. Obviously, if the asset is being shipped, that is not possible. If Govdeals wants to be successful and protect their clientele, they need to forbid clauses like this in seller's Ts and Cs. Alternatively, sellers could give buyers 30 days to make claims of misrepresentation/misdescription which would be fair. Otherwise, many will walk away from this site after being harshly screwed and never come back as I will.
