Zero star if I could
TL;DR - My friend and I had to carry most of the heavy items downstairs ourselves. We waited almost 40 minutes for the second mover. - Flex’s Claims Team said the driver assisted during the move. He did not help us with the heavy lifting. I consider their explanation dishonest. - Flex’s Claims Team denied my partial refund request, saying “the charges stand for services provided.” What a joke! - Flex felt like an arbitrage platform: a middleman arranging independent movers and drivers who arrived separately. The workers on my move were doing this part-time and were not professionally trained. That lack of coordination was unprofessional. I paid more than $600 for a two-mover service to move just four items. One mover helped with loading, but the second mover arrived after the truck was already loaded. While he was absent, a friend and I carried most of the heavy items downstairs ourselves, including a metal bed frame weighing over 100 pounds. The driver was there but did not help us with that heavy lifting. We waited almost 40 minutes for the second mover. The first mover, my friends, and I loaded all four heavy items into the truck. Austin was extremely hot that day, and we struggled and sweated heavily while doing so. At unloading, my friends, the second mover, and I did all the heavy unloading. The driver did not help with that heavy lifting either. Flex’s app records unloading from 3:37 to 4:15 p.m.—just 38 minutes. The second mover missed the loading and only helped with this part of the move. Flex describes a marketplace where independent drivers and movers claim jobs. On my move, the driver and two movers arrived at different times. It felt like I had paid a middleman to arrange separate workers rather than booked a crew that would arrive and load together. I raised this with Flex in writing and asked for a partial refund. Flex’s Claims Team denied my request. Her explanation was: “The driver assisted during the move, which provided active service while waiting for the second mover to arrive.” She also wrote that “the charges stand for services provided.” I was there. I know who did the heavy lifting. My friends and I were soaked with sweat in the Austin summer heat, doing heavy work I had paid movers to handle. It was infuriating to have our hard work dismissed with that explanation. I do not agree that my friends or I should have had to do that lifting. The work we did does not become service provided by Flex because the driver was present or helped in other ways. I should not have to pay Flex for my own labor or my friends’ labor. I feel ripped off. What a joke! Based on this experience, I would not hire Flex again.
