Without question, one of the worst experiences I've ever had with a service driven company. I signed up for The Free Website Guys' so-called "free" service in May 2025. I paid for hosting, purchased and upgraded a WordPress template through their affiliate recommendations, and was repeatedly promised my website would be completed. Weeks turned into months. Deadlines came and went. Communication became increasingly unreliable, and eventually the lead developer, Sven Nilsen, simply disappeared. After months of waiting with virtually nothing to show for it, I gave up and built the website myself using the WordPress template that I had purchased, which was later replaced with a different WP template, altogether. Then, unbelievably without notice nor permission, in 2026, Sven Nilsen attempted to charge my credit card again for the same amount, despite never completing my website, never delivering the services and never building the website that ultimately went live. I disputed the unauthorized charge with my bank, as anyone would with unexpected charges. After failing to respond to any of my previous requests, Sven Nilsen finally resurfaced to respond with A short email stating he had "accepted the dispute." Despicable. No apology. No explanation. No accountability for months of broken promises, missed deadlines, wasted time, lost business, or the fact that I had been forced to do the work myself, after several attempts to reach them. They use the word "Free" to lure clients, get them to buy affiliate hosting, and Wordpress templates, then think they can quietly charge credit cards in the future. Thankfully, my bank's fraud department intercepted these unauthorized charges, and banned the merchant from unauthorized access. CASE CLOSED. Buyer Beware: If this is how The Free Website Guys operates, I strongly suggest looking elsewhere. My experience was defined by broken promises, poor communication, failure to deliver, and an UNETHICAL attempt to charge my credit card a second time for no services rendered. Proceed with extreme caution. One star is a generous rating for the Free Website Guys.

I am reading the reviews left for FWG and I do not know how others achieved their experience of " exceptional", "blown away" etc. This is Absolute opposite of what my experience was during 3 months of engaging in an endless email communication with Sven that caused me a lot of stress, which after all of that time and effort ended up with absolutely nothing. I realized that my website for jewelry designing was going nowhere and asked for my money back. I received it, however, it still cost me to sign up with BLUEHOST, from which FWG get a referral fee but that subscription is useless for me, because they are incompatible with WordPress websites as far as hosting goes. That amount was gone because of 3 months of Sven "working " on my website ( that in all that time did not even produce an image of what it would look like) and it was too late to claim a refund. I do not recommend this company to anyone- there were too many inconsistencies, 3-5 days of no replies in between emails, the FWG "team" is just couple of people who will send you an email how to take possession of your new email and then you are ON YOUR OWN!. Nothing was seamless, not hassle free, not effortless and not free either- I am quoting all the promises made in their mission statement. How misleading! In my case it was a pixie dust of an experience ending in zero production. Originally I engaged them to make me a website for jewelry designing and in March 2026 was going to discontinue my current website's hosting and ask FWG to design me a new website for that 3 yo website as well, but it is definitely not going to happen after my very unhappy experience.
