Extremely Disappointing Experience — Business Owners Should Exercise Caution
I strongly encourage other small business owners to carefully evaluate Forward Funding before proceeding. My experience with this company was extremely disappointing. First, I was concerned to discover multiple fees, including both an origination fee and a processing fee. Business owners should make sure they fully understand the total cost of financing and every fee before moving forward. Second, the application process dragged on for days, requiring my time, attention, and documentation, only for my application to ultimately be rejected based on reasoning that I found unreasonable and unsupported. What concerned me most was having my business ownership questioned without, in my view, a sound factual basis. I have served this country honorably in the U.S. Army for more than two decades, and integrity and accountability are values I take seriously. I am also fully capable of providing legitimate documentation regarding my business ownership. To have that questioned after investing significant time in their process was both surprising and frustrating. Lenders certainly have the right to approve or decline applications based on legitimate underwriting criteria. My issue is with how the process was handled, the fees presented, the time invested, and the explanation ultimately provided. Based on my personal experience, I cannot recommend Forward Funding. Small business owners should ask detailed questions about all fees, underwriting requirements, ownership verification, and approval criteria before investing significant time in the application process.
