Game Changer!!!! Focus Mate has 10xed my productivity in every area of my life. I use it for everything! Cleaning, working, DIY projects, etc... Having a focus buddy/accountability partner has made a world of difference, and I don't have to struggle to stay on track anymore. As a diagnosed ADHD-er, words cannot describe how grateful I am to have found this service.

Focusmate helps me show up for myself. Getting started on a goal that will make a difference in my life is tough, but making an appointment and showing up to start has helped me so much! Very easy platform and such a simple method to make tracks toward your dreams.

Focusmate is something that I use extensively in my day-to-day business. I find myself using Focusmate 7 or 8 times a day sometimes to work on my music or my lesson plans! I have extremely bad ADHD, and I find that having a buddy that checks in on me at the end of a session makes me more likely to get stuff done; the body doubling is very helpful. I think it also helps having a set amount of time for a study session or a work session. For instance, I like the 50-minute time blocks because they remind me to get up and take a walk or a break pretty much on the hour. I have met some really cool people on Focusmate from all over the world, and I have had some really awesome conversations with people.

Focusmate has been an instant game changer for work from home. I lean into the psychology in the platform and let myself feel the pressure to focus for each 50 minute session (you can do almost anything for an hour). Then I spend the last 10 minutes of the hour, getting more coffee, using the toilet and scrolling socials. I've tried Pomodoro session on my own, but having a person able to see me work has made it actually work.

I have been using Focusmate for two and a half years. I came across Focusmate while working for a small church in a small town on the Canadian prairies. I was working for them during Covid, so all this combined meant I was frequently the only person in the church. Without company and without much structure (not a particularly busy church!), it was easy to spend my days aimlessly and never get done what I meant to. Focusmate gave me company and structure. If I didn't know what I was doing with my day, all I had to do was book a session, and that would give me the impetus to choose a task and get to it - especially those I wanted to avoid! I've used Focusmate for cleaning the house, packing for a move, fun artsy projects, personal budgeting, and all kinds of projects on which I've been procrastinating. It works. My experience on Focusmate has been uniformly positive. I have met and chatted with a wide variety of interesting people from around the world. The only moments that have come close to being negative were when I had partners who were less communicative and almost brusque in their focus. Part of what I love about Focusmate are the shared moments of humanity, so when someone doesn't take the time for that, it's much less enjoyable. But I have never felt unsafe, and as a woman on the internet, that is something. No propositions, no photographs, no uncomfortable situations. I've never had to end a call or report someone. And I really, really appreciate that Focusmate offers the option of filtering partners by gender, including cis and trans. That attention to safety and taking it seriously means a lot.
