About Firefly Bookstore

Located in downtown Kutztown since 2012, Firefly Bookstore is an independently-owned and operated new and used bookstore. Re-located in a bigger store in 2017, we now have almost 3000 square feet of space for over 50,000 items. We carry a great selection of titles including large sections of children's books, general fiction, sci-fi, mystery and thrillers, religion & metaphysics, cooking, history and biography. We have a selection of antiquarian titles and fine bindings. We also carry board games and puzzles (both new and used), toys, buttons, magnets, small gifts, note cards and each year, a large selection of calendars. We offer free gift wrapping, customer requests and special orders. We buy and trade books whenever the store is open. We have regular events all year long, including author signings and book releases, events for younger children and family game nights.

Even though I am 200 miles away
Even though I am 200 miles away, the experience has been as if Firefly was just around the corner. My only hope is to someday find you in PA and be charmed by the quaint bookstore and your small town staff. On my end, the little children’s book was a favorite of my daughter, Amy, as a child. Mrs. Doodle punk was acted out many times over 50 years ago. Today the family still calls her Doodle, but neither her grown children nor her nieces and nephews knew where the name originated. The book was a Birthday present on Easter when all 24 of our family were here. Amy was thrilled to reconnect with her youthful memories. The other family now knew and shared the connection with their Doodle. Amy teaches 3rd grade in Baltimore. I hope her students enjoy a new glimpse of their teacher. Thank you, Firefly. Bill Elliott

An independent bookstore with a great mix of new and old books
An independent bookstore with a wonderful mix of new and gently used books. I found a book here that I thought I'd never see again--published in the 1970s and never reprinted--and drove two hours to Kutztown to pick it up. The owner clearly loves books and talked happily to my daughter about good picks for a three-year-old, and her recommendations were perfect. The two-year-old loves them. I wish I lived closer. This is a great bookstore.

One star is too many
One star is too many. I ordered a book and 4 days later all I received was an email stating REFUNDED. Thats all. Just REFUNDED. No explanation and no ph number to call. Will stay away from your company in the future.

We are sorry to hear that your experience with us was disappointing. We are also a bit surprised by your timeline. According to our records, you made the purchase on 3/22/23, and we processed the refund on 3/23. It might have taken a couple of days to show up with your payment provider. We almost always do send an email explaining. You should have received one from our store. It may be in your spam, but the message was: "Thank you for your purchase. Unfortunately, we seem to be out of stock, which may be an inventory error. Our apologies! We have of course immediately issued a refund. You should see that reflected on your card statements within 1-3 days. Please contact us if it does not. We hope to be of service in the future - Firefly Bookstore" Again, we apologize that you did not receive better communication from us. We want to complete every sale we have completely, so the listing being in error was not what we would have intended. I love supporting our local bookstore. I can get free shipping to my home but I prefer to pickup in store.
