I opened an account. I'm interested in subscribing, but how can I consider it if the Android app is absolutely terrible? To activate it, it asks for a phone number to send a text message to. I enter two numbers and receive no text messages. If a paid service provider can't provide a decent Android app, that's a problem for me and doesn't guarantee reliability.

Hi Domenico! Our Android app does not require activation. Can you please reach out to us at [email protected] so we can help?

Forgot my password,
Forgot my password, so I contacted customer support provided all supported evidence it was my account and for the last 48 hours not one of them have replied, I paid for the service that I cannot use and no one there seems to give a damn.
I have to say this company is probably the worst I have ever dealt with and now just taken my money without any product to use (essentially theft)
They asked me for an updated cell number 48 hours ago and they still have not updated it.
GIVE ME MY MONEY BACK

Hi there, Chris. Forgetting your password can definitely be frustrating.
Our automated account recovery tool is your fastest option. If you're accessing it from the same device or browser and location you typically use, you should be able to recover access immediately.
If you are resetting your password through a device, browser, or location that is not already associated with your account, there will always be a 24-hour waiting period. This security measure helps keep your account safe from unauthorized access attempts.
If your recovery contact information isn't up-to-date (and so you can't use the account recovery tool), our support team is always happy to help. It looks like our support team replied to your ticket two minutes after you submitted it. As we shared in your ticket, we must go through a series of security checks to validate that you are the account holder, and that can take time. We want to help you as quickly as possible, but we do prioritize security.

They locked my account permanently
I paid for Fastmail and used it, but suddenly they locked my account permanently while I was using it without any warning. I didn’t do anything wrong, and now I can't access my emails created here. I tried to contact support, but didn’t get proper help. I had a very bad experience, and I don't recommend this service to anyone.
Response from FastmailJul 2, 2025
Hi, Ravindu. Accounts are locked for behavior such as fraud or sending spam. In the support ticket we have from you regarding this, we've responded asking you to confirm your identity and let us know how you've been using the account so we can better understand how this was an error on our part. We're still awaiting a reply from you. As soon as we have that we'll gladly review this for you.

Hi there! As we mentioned in your support tickets, trial accounts lose the ability to send and receive mail if they are not paid for at the end of the trial period. We understand how impactful unexpected data loss can be, and want to balance this with good privacy practices, so we allow for 60 days after a trial ends before destroying data in an unpaid trial account, unless you take action to close the account sooner.
To make sure that you know the trial period is up:
We display a red banner across the screen at the top of your Fastmail account with the message "This account is overdue. Pay now to avoid losing access." The only way to remove the banner is to pay for a subscription plan.
We also send several notices to make sure you know exactly what to expect:
- One day before your trial expires, we send an email reminder, which also lets you know how to choose a subscription plan.
- On the 30th day of your free trial, we send an email reminder to let you know that the trial has expired, and you'll need a paid subscription to continue using Fastmail. This message also lets you know how to subscribe to a paid plan, and how to close your account immediately if you'd prefer to do that.
- Three days later, we send a second email reminder letting you know that "after another week without payment, you will no longer be able to receive mail", and "after 60 days without payment, your Fastmail account may be closed. If you wish to retain your account, you should renew as soon as possible." Again, this message also lets you know how to subscribe to a paid plan and how to close your account immediately if you'd prefer to do so.
- Four days later (one week after the free trial period has ended), we send a third and final reminder with the previously mentioned details.
If there's anything additional that would have helped you recognize that your trial had expired and that payment was required to continue using Fastmail, we'd love to hear more! You can share this with our support team at [email protected].

free trial does not allow to read…
free trial does not allow to read received emails. Literally started using it 30 mins ago, received email from a site and fastmail says - [verify account to view email content] so No CC required trial is BS

Hi there! If you'd prefer to continue a trial without a credit card, you can verify via SMS instead.
We require verification to read certain emails to prevent spammers and scammers from abusing our trial accounts to make spare accounts on other services.
You can read more about limitations of trial accounts here: https://www.fastmail.help/hc/articles/1500000277442
If you have any difficulty with verifying via SMS, please reach out to our support team--we're more than happy to help! https://fastmail.com/support

Responding the misleading and false feedback of October 18, 2024
I am responding to the feedback provided by Fastmail.com on October 18, 2024 with respect to my latest review describing the denigrating and demeaning behaviour of the CEO Bron Gondwana when I escalated my complaint under ticket PTN 1598876.
First of all, I already described the misconduct of Fastmail.com consisting in stealing credit card data and other info from customers. There are several reviews in Truspilot coinciding in that as well. Besides, in my many interactions I repeteadly requested Tyler Jones and Bron Gondwana the proof of the allegued fraud, which they never provided.
Fastmail has no legal team, no one of the listed personnel in their website is a lawyer, and even worst, no one has a legal background. It is a lie that my complaint was "carefully evaluated by our leadership team including our CEO to ensure a fair resolution". Rather contrary, not a single one of my worries was taken into account.

Fake Free Trial - A True "Free Scam"
Fastmail’s "free trial" is misleading. They list three plans (Individual, Duo, Family) all have free trial options, but after you log in, All Key features like creating aliases and connecting with 1Password are blocked, so you can’t even properly test the service, What’s the point of a trial if you can’t try any features?
Fastmail’s trial is a scam to hook you, then push you into paying, (Shortly after trail ends, the account will be deleted, but you have access to more buttons during the free trail, besides Individual, Duo, Family you can also choose the basic one for 4$ to save your account)
Thankfully, you can delete you account (at least that part is truly free, I guess!).
Response from FastmailDec 6, 2024
Hey there Yassine. In order to prevent trial accounts from being abused, we limit some features that trial accounts can use. In some cases to unlock additional features, we will ask for your mobile phone number so we can send a verification code via SMS. In some rarer cases, we will require you to fully pay for your account before unlocking those features.
We have details on the limitations of trial accounts here: https://www.fastmail.help/hc/articles/1500000277442
If you face any difficulty with verifying via SMS (or anything else!) please let our support team know, and we'll gladly get you sorted. https://fastmail.com/support

Fastmail's Deceptive Practices: More Like Ransomware Than a Service
I recently signed up for Fastmail's 30-day free trial, expecting to test out their services before committing to a paid plan. However, my experience has been extremely disappointing, and I believe their business practices are bordering on a scam.
Here’s what happened:
During the trial period, I began receiving crucial emails, including important verification and account-related information. Suddenly, Fastmail restricted access to these emails, and I was prompted to upgrade my account before I could view the contents. These emails were not part of some promotional or spam folder—they were essential to my personal and professional accounts.
It feels as though Fastmail deliberately filters and withholds important content to pressure users into paying for an upgrade. This tactic is highly manipulative and unethical, as they essentially hold your emails hostage. This isn’t just a breach of trust, it’s eerily similar to ransomware behavior: withholding access to vital information until a payment is made.
What makes this even more frustrating is that, living in Ethiopia, none of the payment methods Fastmail accepts are available in my country. PayPal doesn't operate here, and no local bank offers debit cards that support international payments. Despite reaching out to customer support multiple times and explaining the issue, their responses have been slow and unhelpful, leaving me unable to access crucial information.
Fastmail advertises a free trial, but when they restrict access to your content unless you upgrade, it’s anything but free. This bait-and-switch tactic is misleading and feels like a well-crafted strategy to lock users in before they've had a chance to properly evaluate the service.
To anyone considering Fastmail, be cautious. Their trial period is designed to create a sense of urgency, forcing you to upgrade or lose access to important emails. It's a predatory practice that should not be tolerated, and I encourage others to be wary of falling into this trap.
If you’re looking for transparency, fairness, and a trustworthy email service, Fastmail is far from it.
Response from FastmailOct 19, 2024
We offer a free 30-day trial so that you can test our features to see if Fastmail is a good fit.
It’s important for us to have security measures in place to ensure that our service isn’t abused, which would cause issues for our customers. Various limits on trial accounts are part of these security measures. This prevents activities like sending spam and phishing, and to keep scammers from receiving fraud-related emails. If we allowed spam or phishing to be sent from our servers, more and more spam reports over time would compromise the long-term sending quality of our IP addresses. That would, in turn, affect our ability to deliver mail for all of our customers who are using Fastmail for its intended use, and it's important to us that we prevent that from happening.
We’re pleased to see that you contacted our support team, and it looks like we resolved your concern. If you need additional support, please reach out—just send an update to your support ticket, and we will gladly continue to work with you on this.
