I was helped a great deal throughout the process by Tony Beers. I thought the process was a little slow, but it may be normal.

Refinance of previous Reverse Mortgage with Finance of America
Last winter we decided to "refinance" our previous reverse mortgage with Finance of America to take advantage of lower rates and increased home values. Our representative was quite helpful. However, we contacted our previous agent (now retired) who reminded us of the option of the Line of Credit -- something our new agent did not mention. When we mentioned this to our new agent, he helped to make that happen. The initial written documents did not include that Line of Credit option, but when I reminded him about it, he took care of it. I'm sure that the restrictions regarding Covid had a lot to do with slight miscommunications. We never had a face to face meeting. The details of the documents, appraisal, mandated counseling, and other steps took quite a while, but our agent was patient and helpful. So here we are on the other side of this refinance of the initial reverse mortgage. We're happy with the results.

I refinanced a reverse that I had with…
I refinanced a reverse that I had with Finance of America thinking it would be easier than going to another company, it wasn't. Seems like I had to do more work than with the original process. I was told this was because the regulations had changed but some of the questions were questions I answered the first time around. It was only two years. It got done and I do like having two contacts with FofA that I can email to ask questions. This is very helpful.

The interest rate could have been lower…
The interest rate could have been lower and the loan could have been without closing costs. I'm actually further in debt.

We were happy with the final outcome
We were happy with the final outcome. It took longer than what we had originally planned for. Our representative was friendly to work with and almost always returned our calls. Glad that we were able to get a reverse mortgage with Finance of America.
