Cost excessive total cruise compared many others cruises we did, to which we even had to add 2 fuel increases, pay separately for the Nitrox (however excessive), as well as a great difference to use 1 tank of 15 instead of 12 liters. Old and poorly maintained small boat. Instead friendly and helpful crew.

This a related to the Rea Sea itinerary The bad: No one told our group that the boat name was Sea Serpent Grand. There was a lot of confusion when our transfer driver arrived at the hotel and everyone expected the boat name to be MV Grand Sea Explorer, as explicitly noted on the Explorer Ventures website. One day our cabin cleaning included the spraying down of our suit’s entire bathroom. Our toiletry bag hanging on the door got soaked in the process. It would have nice if the crew had warned us about this cleaning so we could have removed our bathroom items first. The beds were incredibly unconformable due to their firmness. Also, the included blanket wasn’t large enough to fit the bed. The air-conditioner control near the cabin door emitted a loud intermittent clicking noise, possibly related to when the generators were switched. Also, the room temperature didn’t reach a comfortable level until at least six hours into the night (about 74 degrees) The crew didn’t adequately warn passengers that anyone would be allowed to board the boat while at port and check inside some of the unlocked rooms. I spoke with one of the passengers that had items stolen from their room. The medical form that Explorer Ventures required us to fill out was a waste of time, and the Sea Serpent Grand had us fill out a different form. With multiple vegetarians on board, it would have been nice if some of the dishes were made partially without meat. For example, don’t put meat on a couple of potato skins when making the rest of the dish. It would have been useful if there was a signup sheet for anyone not going on that day’s dives. Each dive briefing started with a delay of figuring out who wasn’t there and if their absence was intended. Also, there was important non-dive related information given out during dive briefings with no prior notification. Considering all dives are optional, it would have been useful if the important information related to today and tomorrow was also written on a whiteboard or chalkboard. The good: Crew was always helpful and friendly. Most of the food was good. Diving was beautiful.

I’ve never been on a boat that only gave you 2800 pounds of air. The tank will hold 3000-3200……fill em up!!!!! The people were nice and the food was good. Unfortunately the air thing is a big deal to me. I wouldn’t book a return trip with these folks.
