Horrendous customer service and policies.

ETS for a Praxis test has been a nightmare to work with. I hope I never have to work with them again. I have had six months of problems with them. First, my old account had my name hyphenated, which it no longer is. I called to correct this early because I had heard from others that name discrepancies can cause a huge headache. It took me two weeks and at least five long calls to get this straightened out. Then THEY canceled my first scheduled test and failed to add the appropriate link on my account to reschedule. This took a month to rectify and several long calls. (The language barrier is horrible.) I then rescheduled for as soon as possible, took the test, and the official scores will not be released until after my state's deadline. I saw my score when my test ended, so I called to ask them to expedite it to my state dep. of ed. They would not. I even waited on the line for 30 minutes to talk to a supervisor. She absolutely refused to consider my request.

I read the reviews online and I concur: worst customer Service EVER. I enrolled into Biology 5236 (Praxis II) and decided to also purchase the Praxis QuickStack additional quizzes Practice. I was never able to access the latter. It kept telling me that I didn't have an account yet. I obviously do, because this is the 3rd Science Praxis II exam I took and passed. I alerted ETS administration and I heard nothing back until the day of my test (08/01) where they suggested to clear the cache, try different browsers, try logging in from my phone...... I already tried all those - and nothing changed. I finally spoke with someone on the phone. After long deliberation, they gave me an email address I should contact for a $45 refund. After 1 week they responded to my email and suggested I called the number I had called 10 days earlier.... When I told them that their colleague at that number was the one that game me their email address, this was their response: "We understand your concern and, regarding your request for a refund for the Praxis Quick Stack, we regret to inform you that refunds are not available for study materials and additional services. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your understanding and patience" I would assume that allowing Candidates to access material for which they paid for is ALSO part of their policy, but maybe not.

I have never experienced such a frustrating customer service process for an exam I had already paid for. My TOEFL iBT Home Edition test was scheduled for August 10, 2026. My appointment was canceled because ETS said there was an issue verifying my identity. I immediately contacted ETS to resolve the issue and provided my passport and all the information they requested. Since then, I have been going round and round between different ETS departments. Every time I contact them, I explain the situation again. I provide my ETS ID, date of birth, appointment number, reference number, passport information, and all the other details they request. Instead of getting an actual resolution, I am repeatedly told to contact another department or I receive another generic response that doesn't answer my question. ETS eventually corrected my name and date of birth and confirmed that my account information exactly matches my passport. But my appointment still shows as canceled. I have repeatedly asked very simple questions: What happens to the test I already paid for? Can it be reinstated? If not, where is my refund? Why was it canceled when the information has now been verified and corrected? I have not received a proper answer. The worst part is that today, August 10, was the day I was supposed to take my test. I have spent days trying to get help before the test date, sending emails and following every instruction ETS gave me, yet I am still left confused and without a clear resolution. It is incredibly frustrating to pay for an important examination and then feel like nobody at ETS is actually taking responsibility for your case. I understand that mistakes can happen during registration. I accept that I made errors in my profile. But what has been extremely disappointing is how ETS has handled the situation afterward. I have cooperated fully, provided my passport, corrected the information, and repeatedly contacted support, yet I still cannot get a straightforward answer. The constant redirection, repeated generic replies, lack of ownership, and failure to address my refund or reinstatement request have been unacceptable. I hope ETS seriously improves its customer service. People take TOEFL because the results matter for university admissions, scholarships, immigration, and other major life decisions. Customers deserve much better communication and support when something goes wrong.

I registered and paid for a TOEFL iBT® Home Edition exam through ETS, scheduled for 5 August 2026. During the pre-test check, the proctor flagged some software on my laptop, including AnyDesk. I removed everything I was instructed to remove, with the proctor's confirmation. The exam still failed to start, and I was never given the opportunity to sit any part of the test. Later that day, I received an email from ETS stating my scores couldn't be reported due to "unauthorized software," with no refund, voucher, or reschedule offered. I appealed twice, explaining that I had complied fully and never had the chance to begin the exam — but ETS's final response confirmed the decision was final, with no refund. I paid $319 for a service that was never delivered, despite doing everything asked of me. I'm now pursuing a refund through my bank, since ETS has refused to resolve this directly.
