Makshi
Private Blend - Uberoud
My third purchase from Ensar Oud & not at all disappointed. :) I'm getting notes of tobacco and liqueur-drenched fruit cake....and something else, an earthy base. I think it must be that 'jungle spiciness' people talk about when describing Malaysian ouds. The pure perfume itself is so satisfyingly dark & dense - even in just a 15ml bottle. :) I think this is definitely not a feminine scent by any stretch - but I wasn't expecting it to be. These are, of course, just my first impressions - I haven't yet worn it for a day. I want to save this for special occasions & not use it up too quickly! About the presentation - well, it's beautiful. Even the samples came in their own pristine, satin covered box. The resin lid & plaque on the bottle are a gorgeous blue. All in all everything has a very well made feel to it. UPDATE: This scent gets more blue as it dries on your skin. The fruit cake fades away. The perfume is very thick & resinous so it takes a while to dry - but as it does, the blue-ness that Ensar describes starts coming out. There really is a petrol blue note! :) Don't worry - it's really NOT essence of Shell garage! It's that kind of dark, bitter, resin blue scent that only comes from certain woods and a touch of rain hitting dry soil. That's what it makes me think of, anyway. :)
