Would give negative stars if I could
Would give negative stars if I could. I purchased an EcoTerra mattress in part because of the advertised 15-year non-prorated warranty. After the mattress developed a covered manufacturing defect, EcoTerra approved my warranty claim for a replacement. However, after approving the claim, EcoTerra required me to pay more than $600 in shipping costs to receive the replacement mattress. The charge was presented as a variable “custom” shipping fee based on carrier quotes rather than a clearly disclosed, standardized warranty replacement fee. My concern is not that shipping has a cost, but that the warranty does not clearly disclose a fixed fee, cap, or predictable method for determining what a customer may owe to receive a replacement mattress. As carrier quotes changed, so did the amount I was being asked to pay. EcoTerra advertises free shipping on new mattress purchases, yet I was asked to pay over $600 to obtain a warranty replacement for a confirmed product defect. In my experience, this substantially reduced the value of the advertised non-prorated warranty. I spent months communicating with customer service and management and filed complaints with consumer protection agencies seeking clarification and resolution. Although EcoTerra eventually offered to cover a portion of the shipping cost, I was still being asked to pay hundreds of dollars out of pocket to receive the replacement mattress. As a result, I ultimately I could not proceed with the replacement because the remaining shipping cost was too high. Buyers should carefully review the warranty terms and understand that an approved warranty claim may still result in significant out-of-pocket costs before a replacement will be provided. This company has zero ethics or respect for customers- BUYER BEWARE!!!
