Over the past 9 weeks, alongside hundreds of other AI Fellows, I got hands-on experience with the full machine learning lifecycle, from data cleaning and preprocessing to model building and evaluation. I started with traditional ML algorithms like KNN, Decision Trees, and Logistic Regression, learning how to optimize and validate models using techniques like cross-validation and feature selection. From there, I moved into neural networks and computer vision, and wrapped up the course exploring cutting-edge topics in generative AI, including building AI chatbots, implementing RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) systems, and working with the Model Context Protocol (MCP). Beyond the coding exercises and weekly assignments, I put in real lab time each week applying these concepts to hands-on projects, which made the material click in a way lectures alone couldn't.
