Dear Dennis: You did find the answer and this is the HIGHEST BLOCKING (most sound suppressing) ear plug in existence, but to experience the superior performance, one must follow these preparation and insertion directions below, (exactly) and you will realize why all the testimonials on our website page are true and accurate. 1. Just as you are about to insert, take ONE ear plug and {work it or knead it} thoroughly between your fingers or hands for at least 20 seconds to make it soft, moldable and to disburse the Pure Lanolin throughout the ear plug. Pure Lanolin makes the ear plug slightly “tacky” so that it stays securely in the ear canal and seals it. When the ear plug is soft and moldable and ready to insert, it doesn't matter what shape it is; round, flat, long or narrow; just follow the next step. If you are going to pinch off to make a smaller ear plug, then now is the time. 2. Using the tip of your index finger, push FIRMLY & FLATTEN the ear plug IN and AGAINST your ear canal (until you feel a GOOD SEAL!) If it doesn't seal immediately, then hold your finger pressed against the ear plug (with slight pressure) for a few more seconds and it will seal well. 3. Now take the other ear plug, prepare it the same way & insert it into the other ear. With both ear plugs inserted correctly & sealing the ear canals, you will notice a big improvement. 4. To Remove: Simply pinch the ear plug with your thumb & index finger and gently pull downward and out. Dear customer: One star rating from you is a bit harsh for such a fine product. Our customer service is better than you experienced. Just call the office and ask for Joseph. In the interest of 'Goodwill', he well be sure to ship you more plastic cases. As a convenience to our customers, we include an extra case with the purchase of each 6 and 12 pair pack, but at this point in time, we are not in the business of selling plastic cases. Regarding the value: When you consider that each pair can be worn from 30-40 times and more, it makes this ear plug the best value for the money over any other ear plug in the world. Regarding dropping the ear plugs on the ground and then re-inserting them, we discourage that for any and all ear plugs in existence. Just drop them in your ears and let them do what they do best.
