I’m a music producer. I sent them my broken drive in April. After assuring me that they’d get a verdict on what was wrong and if they could fix it in 10 days, those 10 days passed and months went by. I kept calling and the only thing they could say was “we’re working on it”. They said this every single time I called by September I told them if they couldn’t give me a verdict by the end of the month I want my drive shipped back. So October 1st came and I asked them once again….guess what they said “we’re still working on it”. Mind you they originally said they’d come to a conclusion in 10 days. Half a year later still nothing, which leads me to believe they never even tried. So I asked for it back. Months wasted. Years of work gone forever. When it came back it had a big red “DriveSavers” sticker on it and the shell was gone. Horrible company. Would not recommend

I am NOT happy AT ALL. I thought I was going to get honest and professional service and I am fairly computer savvy. In retrospect I really think they were trying to pull a fast one. I damaged the SATA connector on a hard drive (while changing a different drive). I called, explained the situation and clearly explained that the fi les were intact, I had just damaged the connector. This was on a Friday. They quoted me $900 to $3900, which seemed pretty steep, but I needed the files si nee my backup was not as current. I later found out that HD PCB boards can be replaced and inexpensively, which means it should have been easy to f ix. A couple hours after I dropped it off Sam called me and asked what types of files was I trying to recover, again I explained that all the files should be intact. He said he wouldn't know until the techs looked at the drive and I OK'd moving forward. So Monday rolls past and I called and talked with -----and explained again, along with the new info I had on the PCB board replacement. She said she would expedite things and find out. No call back. I said I did not want to pay almost $4000 for a recovery of uncorrupted files. Then Tuesday morning, still no info about the drive. I called and said I was not happy and wanted the drive back, I was then moved up to a supervisor who was very rude, asked me if I had a clean room and said this is like doing heart surgery. I asked what had been done. She finally said the drive was imaged (meaning it could be copied to a new drive). I asked if they opened the sealed drive and she said no. I said I wanted it back and picked it up today. I had a matching PCB board from an identical drive because I had bought them at the same time. The boards are identical! Now the drive is unrecognized and useless. I moved the board back and forth with the other drive so I know it is working. My wife heard the call with the supervisor and she was stunned at how she talked down to me. Did I say I am NOT happy? Buyer Beware.

I had job 801065 for authenticity. My hdd drive failed & I forgot the password & recovery code. I looked up a bunch of places & ignored the reviews calling this place a scam. It seems to be at least price gouging maybe not a full on scam. Their quoted turn around is 10-15 days & ended up quoting be $3700-3900 for the work. I questioned this evaluation when they told me it just had firmware issues because those don't cost that. I pressed further & they told me it actually had physical failure which merits the price increase so I accepted it reluctantly even when they stated a $600 cancelation fee. 13 business days later they contact me stating that they need the trusted computer to help recover the files & it took so long because they were going around encryption. The thing is, I offered to send my trusted computer along with the drive intially & after the evaluation & they thought they didn't need it. So I'm really not sure what my evaluation was based on & that lack of explanation made a stressful situation even worse. I wanted to know & for them to elaborate whats wrong with my drive in more detail after this, as this was a huge red flag. It also made me question if they were honest in adding physical damage after I didn't think firmware fixes cost almost 4 grand. They wouldnt tell me anything & claimed that's proprietary information. When you go to the mecahnic, they tell you whats wrong with the car & how much that costs. This is a different industry but telling me whats wrong so I can know how much I'm paying & for what should not be a secret. I wasn't asking what specifically down to the firmware name or error or the exact issue with drive heads etc, I was simply asking what the umbrella term for issue is. I was willing to pay more for something from a company with experience in the field, but not be price squeezed without information when they hold data you don't want lost so they don't end up preying on consumer desperation. This business neglected any form of transparency & that was even more concerning as they wouldn't adjust the price even when they didnt meet their own deadline to fix the drive caused by them not accepting the trusted computer in the first place. I offered I'd be willing to even work things out for some path forward, but they would just ignore any accountability or transparency by just not answering anything after claiming proprietary issues. They are now sending the drive back, but to their credit aren't charging me a $600 cancelation fee. Not sure though if thats because they have the no data no charge guarentee as a manager stated that if I proceed after the evaluation. Might be because they never started work since they didnt have a expedited option avaliable & usually do so maybe they were really behind. That I don't know. I will update this review after that if there is anything else to report. I normally don't write reviews, but this experience has been that bad. Buyer BEWARE.

Overcharge data recovery from old thinkpad. Charging 3.5k to my son who is autism. Make sure you are not cheated.

DriveSavers Data Recovery Is a Rip off place taking advantage of customers unfortunate circumstances loosing data. They quoted me $750 all the way to $4,000 to recover my data from a computer that i couldn’t turn on. What in a world are they thinking we’re fouls ?? I went to local Co who recovered my date for $500. I couldn’t be happier. Don’t settle for these Crooks

Don't give your iphone if it is in recovery mode. In any case don't give it to Drivesaver. They are not informing what they are exactly doing on the iphone. They tried to recover data from the chip by unlocking the phone. So I couldn't login in my iCloud account. Dont believe any data recovery service without a brief explanation. They are using technical words. In my experience telling everyone not to believe Drivesaver. Their service is too frustrating.

Lost video files after inadvertently reformatting an external drive. Sent to drivesavers. They called me that they had recovered all the files and charged me almost $2,000, including $89 for a 1TB external drive. When i received the drive, more than half of my video files could not be opened. When I called them, they told me that those files were destroyed. Why didn't they check before mailing out the drive? Even the few files that were recovered were essentially random video clips from different video files, which I couldn't piece together. They agreed to refund $1,000 but then I essentially wasted $1,000. If they had told me of the random video clips rec and also that they couldn't recover most of the files, I would not have proceeded with the project. Also to charge $89 for a 1 TB hard drive is hard to fathom.
