You’ve sent me an email asking for a review before you’ve done anything… Everytime I speak to someone I get different information and different time frames. Been a joke of a company to deal with so far.

It has been super easy from the financing to the registration documents and communication. All has been superb. They communicate what’s needed, acknowledge when it’s been received. Keep ya informed of what’s going on. (Edited 07/10/26): So I’m changing my review cause this has been anything but superb. They said they sent my title packet off to my state for registration, but then tell me it’s rejected cause they want a certain document (I provided said document) and then it changed to another said document wasn’t good enough. I ended up telling them to just send me all the documents so I can self register as everything I have given them is more than sufficient and the dmv will accept it. I’ve done this a few times now and this is absolutely insane. Then on top of it. I’ve been told several times now. “I’ll have the DMV team call you and get this straightened out.” Here we are on day 5 of waiting for a callback. This has by far been the worst experience and I’ve owned 20 cars. It’s never been this difficult. I just want my refund check for the taxes I had to prepay when I bought the car and the registration packet so I can go to the dmv and get this shit done. It’s ridiculous!

Confusing process. Sold my car through ebay, but somehow got stuck with a 3rd party company Caramel. Normally I would not sign and hand over a pink slip without getting paid. I did not know Caramel was a sort of escrow service that would hold the money until I sent over the pink slip. The website did not tell me where to send the pink slip. The seller did. Weeks after the auction ended and after several emails and numerous waist of time a.i. agent interactions Ebay or Caramel gave me the green light to send the pink slip to the buyer. I sent the pink slip to the buyer as the buyer requested. Now I get an email from Caramel after the fact saying I should send the title to the seller, but at a different address that what the seller told me. Oh my gosh. I just mailed my pink slip to who knows where. Total mess of a selling process. At this point I do not know if I will get paid, or will have to undo this mess by working with the DMV. Will warn everyone I know to stay far away from Ebay Motors. Suggest you start applying for a job elsewhere, because Ebay motors has gone off a cliff.

I wired my down payment 3 days ago and all my documents are complete with both ebay and my lender and caramel cant be bothered to send my lender the purchase agreement Customer service is a joke, my lender has reached out multiple times to get this moving but caramel doesn't seem to wanna sell cars

I have sent the same document 5 times over the last 5 days. Caramel keeps accepting the email and then their CSR's say they don't have it. This companies lack of efficiency is appalling, and they will not let you speak to a supervisor.

They canceled my sale. I'm reading nothing but horrible reviews. Apparently it's a disaster waiting to happen in my opinion. Do not click on secure payment. I couldn't proceed without giving them tons of personal information including my social security number. Now I'm reading eBay and it's telling me if I want all my personal data delete it I have to delete my eBay account. This should not only be illegal there should be a class action lawsuit against them.

No company should have this many one star reviews. I hate that I have to be one of them, but nothing about my experience so far with Caramel has been transparent or timely. The buyer and I are communicating and sharing our frustrations. It has taken Caramel 3 weeks just to process his deposit. Phone calls are not returned. Notifications are nonexistent. At this rate it will take months for this vehicle sale to be completed. I've offered to refund the buyer's deposit just to end this experience with Caramel. Update on 6-6-26: it’s completely irrelevant to me the customer whether eBay or Caramel processes the buyer's deposit; the buyer gave up and requested the sale be canceled which eBay did on 5/27.

1-Star Review: Worst Experience Ever – Avoid Carmel (eBay's Vehicle Service) at All Costs! I bought a Sprinter van through eBay in January 2026, and what should have been a straightforward purchase turned into an absolute nightmare thanks to Carmel Dealer Services (the eBay-affiliated company handling paperwork and registration). Right after the van arrived in California, I took it for a smog test—it failed because the OBD2 sensors weren't ready. I immediately notified the seller and Carmel about this issue. It took driving over 1,000+ miles (and a lot of time and frustration) to finally get the monitors ready and pass the smog. No help or guidance from them during that process. The real horror started with the registration paperwork. Carmel sent me incomplete and incorrect documents to handle the registration myself in California. I've spent weeks on the phone with their support team—multiple calls, hold times, and promises—but nothing gets resolved. I even offered to send them the corrected paperwork so they could properly register the van on my behalf (since that's supposedly their job), but they flat-out refused and told me I had to deal with it myself. To top it off, my temporary registration is set to expire at the start of next month, and I'm now stuck without valid registration because of their incompetence. On top of that, they incorrectly marked on the paperwork that the van was purchased in California—which is completely false. It was bought from Florida! This error could cause even more headaches with the DMV, taxes, or emissions compliance. I've dealt with plenty of dealerships, online sellers, and DMV processes over the years, but Carmel is hands-down the worst I've ever encountered. Unresponsive, incompetent, unwilling to fix their mistakes, and now leaving me in a bind with an expiring temp tag on a vehicle I can't legally drive. They advertise "seamless" DMV handling and skipping lines, but all they've done is create massive problems and delays. Do yourself a favor—avoid any vehicle purchase on eBay that involves Carmel. If I could give zero stars, I would. Save yourself the stress and potential legal/registration issues. This has been a complete disaster.
