DressMD Step 1 Prep
DressMD Step 1 Prep — Course Review =========================== Summary: The instructor (Dr. Hemlata Padharia) is an adequate teacher for students with a strong study background who can grasp concepts from minimal explanation. However, if you are an older graduate or require instruction from the fundamentals, this course is not suitable. Other concerns: Misrepresentation of credentials: The instructor claimed to be a US MD but is an Indian MD, has never completed a US residency, and currently resides in India (she may have lived in the US previously). No session recordings: There are no recordings available, and students are prohibited from recording or taking screenshots. The management impose this restriction as a legal prohibition. Unresponsive administration: The administrative team is focused on collecting payment and becomes unresponsive after receiving funds. Front-loaded effort: Significant effort is made during the first month to encourage students to pay the full fee (4,000–5,000). After payment, instruction becomes rushed and less supportive. Poor handling of complaints: If you raise concerns politely, the instructor may take it personally and single you out in class, discouraging further complaints. Excessive fees compared to value: The course is priced comparably to major providers like Kaplan but does not deliver comparable value. There are better alternatives offering recorded lectures, notes, and ongoing support for a small fraction of the cost. Alternatives: Several other Step 1 prep providers offer higher value at much lower cost (often 400–500 for a four-month program with recordings and full support). Examples include ACEUSMLE, USMLECorner, USMLE-Mastery, and StepUpUSMLE etc. Many of these courses are taught by high-scoring students (260+) applying for the Match or by doctors abroad who do not misrepresent their credentials. Recommendation: If you are considering DressMD for Step 1 preparation, I strongly recommend exploring other options before committing. Unless the course fee is drastically reduced (for example, to around $400 for four months), I cannot recommend DressMD. Take demo classes from alternative providers and compare the materials, recordings, and ongoing support. Final note: After joining, they request feedback within a few days. I was asked to leave a positive review early, which I did unknowingly BUT later experienced poor support and treatment. Be cautious when asked for a review shortly after enrollment.
