Veronica at Dissertation by Design has more or less saved the life I know. Metaphorically, she has helped me keep a sinking dissertation-tanker afloat in a hurricane. I am one of those students who never got taught (or never learned) writing well enough, but with agony in each paper still did famously in school. For three years I have been trying and failing at writing my dissertation proposal. I ran out of financial aid. Staggering principle and interest loom larger every day. I was running on fumes and still not succeeding. My university didn’t notice, have, or provide the resources I needed. Then my university made internal changes, and forced me to do a different proposal (not for feasibility reasons, yet to meet the changes they were making in my PhD program). Now, after nearly finishing my proposal in about 5 or 6 months, I feel as if I would have failed without Veronica’s support and guidance. She met me anywhere I was at, and didn’t hesitate to go above and beyond. Though I have been under pressure and duress, and going through other fairly tragic experiences trying to survive while I finish my dissertation, Veronica has helped me have fun writing again. She has helped me regain my motivation and enjoy the process with fascination. She has helped me nurture my love of being a scholar, and of being in the world as an inspired social scientist. After supporting me through this writing experience, I will always remember Veronica as a Forest Gump like coach for me, going back into the exploding jungle to find me and help me back to the shore. I’ll never forget it. Whatever success I have helping others in my career will be founded on what Veronica has helped me shape. I couldn’t have done it without you, Veronica. Thank you.
