The first host I've ever left mid-rental
Attracted by the exceptional hardware and low prices, I made the unfortunate mistake of renting a VPS Game server from Deploys and moving my community over. The first 14 days or so seemed fine - didn't really have any issues or interaction with the support. However, for the last 3 days, my VPS has been subjected to constant extreme lag. From what I was able to gather, the upload speed was either being choked or throttled, and this made our gameservers completely unplayable for all members of my community. By unplayable, I mean the map, chat and anything else would take minutes to load, by which time you either be dead or kicked for the poor connection. I contacted support who said someone on the node I was sharing was launching DDoS attacks. Few days passed and I heard nothing. I was then told to run some up/download speed tests. I ran these and reported the results. Heard nothing for another day. I then messaged them stating that if I did not receive a proper response, I would be leaving the host. I heard no response. I have now left Deploys, and forked out the extra cost for a much more reliable host. This is the first time I have ever ended a hosting period early. I've lost a fair amount of money, but the damage to my community will be the real cost here. Steer well clear if you have any ambition for your projects or community.
