a great mission doesn't mean a great company
I was really excited about finding Denik because of their mission - I thought I'd found a great partner to create notebooks for a new, high profile empathy card launch. Sadly of the 25 notebooks I received, only 2 are barely usable. All the others have a white stripe down the front or the back copyright information is printed right up against the edge. When I submitted pictures I was told the design file shows the design wasn't pulled to the edge. I've designed cards and journals for a long time and understand how the bleed line works. I designed this journal with a bleed to the edge and I stretched both the interior and exterior designs from end to end. The mock up design showed the notebooks as they were supposed to be. There was no reason for me to assume that the design file was any different. The other thing they said is "because our production process is highly automated, slight shifts can occur during printing and trimming." This site won't let me upload pics, but these aren't "slight shifts." If I actually wanted a white line I would have been frustrated too as half the notebooks have a thick line while the others have a thin one. In addition, their customer service hides behind a group emailbox so you don't know who you're actually writing to. I called and left a message but nobody called me back. And at no point did they stop to consider that it may be an error on their end. Now I'm out the money, the notebooks aren't usable, and I will have to scramble to find another vendor in time for my launch. They may have a great mission, but they definitely don't have great production or customer service. I'm disappointed and definitely won't be using them again.
