The company explicitly asked for 5 star reviews to be written in exchange for extended access to its learning content. This is a direct violation of Trustpilot's rules. When this was pointed out, Zach Wilson did take away the incentive. Trustpilot is very clear that businesses should not be offering incentives. It's disappointing that it took a few honest reviews in the sea of hundreds for this company to change its practice. It's made me distrustful, on top of my disappointing experience with the content. I took the free beginner data engineer bootcamp. It has been disorganized since the beginning. The biggest disappointment was the lack of homework. Zach spent a significant portion of the pre-bootcamp video emphasizing the importance of doing the homework assignments to the learning process, including a demo of how to submit the homework for feedback. However, there have been no assignments. If this bootcamp was just meant to be a series of videos, it should have been advertised as such. The pre-bootcamp video is longer than the entire bootcamp combined. It's unclear if there is more content coming. Yesterday's incentive email says there is, but a moderator on Discord says all of the content for the beginner bootcamp has been posted. Based on this experience, I have no interest in pursuing any of the paid materials. While Zach has a lot of experience, an expert's stream of consciousness doesn't automatically translate to helpful learning.

Thank you for your feedback — I understand your concern. To make sure everything is fair for all students, we’ve extended access for everyone from November 24th to December 28th, with no review required. Reviews are completely optional and never a condition for continued access. I appreciate you bringing this to my attention. The absolute beginner boot camp will continue over time (give it 3-4 more months). Truly apologize for the delays in the roll out of that.

I was genuinely shocked this morning when I opened an email from DataExpert.io offering to extend my free access in exchange for a 5-star review on Trustpilot. That’s not a small mistake, that’s a serious ethical issue. Let’s be fair: I’ve learned valuable things from their content. Some lessons were well-structured and insightful. But this kind of “review for reward” practice crosses a clear line. It’s deceptive, manipulative, and ultimately damaging to both the company’s credibility and the trust of its users. When a platform that claims to promote learning and professionalism starts pushing users to leave inflated reviews, it undermines its own legitimacy. It shows a lack of respect for current users who believed in the quality of the content, and it misleads future ones who might trust those artificially boosted ratings. Honesty is non-negotiable. Reviews should reflect genuine experiences, not be traded for perks. I expected more integrity from a company that works in the data and tech education space. Transparency and ethics should be the foundation, not the afterthought. I didn’t write this review as a hater, but as someone who values ethics, transparency. I believe in giving credit where it’s due, and DataExpert.io does provide educational value. But integrity matters more than marketing tactics. This kind of approach might bring short-term boosts in ratings, but it destroys long-term trust. Companies in the learning and data industry should lead by example, not compromise their values for visibility. I truly hope they take this feedback seriously and choose the honest path forward.

Just received an email from data expert offering extended free access for a 5 star review. So please bear in mind some of the five star reviews you see are being written in exchange for free access.

I just got an email from DataExpert.io offering me extended access as a reward for giving a five star review. I see this practice as highly unethical and completely undermines the purpose of being on Trustpilot. It is also especially ironical when coming from a company that has the sole purpose of teaching Data engineering. As Data professionals we should not tolerate manufactured bias of any kind. They should now much better! The email: --- subject: Review DataExpert on TrustPilot to maintain access to Community Bootcamp body: DataExpert.io Community Academy You're receiving this email from DataExpert.io Community Academy.
