Compared to a wa87 its a little weaker in output, tone is comparable the wa87.
I also compaired to a tlm 103 and a tlm 102, the da87 was considerably weaker and not as much presence as the tlm103 but sound better then the tlm 102.
In my small studio it will do okay. I probably should have purchased the 47 but ive used up my mic budget for a while.

So far I am not impressed
So far I am not impressed. I used it to record a trumpet and it sounded somewhat distorted even though I had the gain turned way down. I’m waiting to try it on a vocal track.

Ralph, did you try using the -10dB pad switch on the mic? A trumpet is a pretty loud source.

DACHMAN Audio offered no initial…
DACHMAN Audio offered no initial address or phone number. I looked everywhere. With today’s world I thought I had involved myself with a scam. More transparency would ensure more sales.

Hello Mike,
You first asked for a phone number via email for the first time on December 7, 2024 at 3:41pm. Four minutes later I personally responded to your request with our toll-free phone number.
A little over two weeks later, on December 23rd at 11:43pm ET you emailed again asking for a phone number and address. At 11:52pm ET I again personally replied to you with our address and direct number.
Not sure what went wrong here. Like many smaller companies, we conduct our business almost exclusively online, though we do have a phone number available for rare instances where it is needed by a customer. I do not intend to boast in any way, but we have a virtually spotless reptuation for providing an excellent product at an incredible value, along with customer service that treats everyone like real human beings.
All the best,
Josh

In comparison to my Neumann U87ai
In comparison to my Neumann U87ai, the Dachman does not hold up or deliver on its’ promise.
It is down at least 9 db in level and sounds dull by comparison. It’s not a terrible mic and may find use if I need an extra mic, but it would be far from my first choice.

Thanks for your candid review, Dennis. It should be noted that our DA 87i is based on the original, vintage Neumann U87i (NOT the U87ai you've compared it to). The vintage Neumann U87i from the 60s and 70s does have an output that is about 10 dB lower compared to a modern U87ai. And, as the capsule polarization voltage is much less compared to a modern U87ai, the vintage 87i is often described as sweeter and a little more mellow in the top end compared to a modern U87ai.
