Perfection!! With a couple minor caveats
I feel that this is a remarkably full bodied yet very quiet mic. Everything about it (except one thing) is stellar. The one thing is the finish on the grill. Somehow it makes the mic feel a bit cheap when sonically it is anything but. I’m actually temped to disassemble and dull it down a bit, more along the lines of the mics it’s emulating. I love the box, it’s real wood and feels solid (though the red stain feels just a little “Chinese takeout”) and the squirrel cage feels like the original and you even added the base mount clip which is a nice extra, although if it saves money I’d totally say to lose that clip. I’d be surprised if many will use it when they have a real shock mount at their disposal. I’m actually incredibly happy with the mic. I spent over a decade using daily a pair of vintage 67’s and although those were tube this mic has every bit the character and depth that they did. Other than the cosmetic things I mentioned if there was one thing I’d magically change about the mic it would be to give it about 5db more sensitivity so that I wouldn’t need to max my pre (Focusrite Red 7 circa 1997)to get the audio volume I’m looking for on quieter instruments. Overall thank you for creating such a beautiful sounding mic at this price point, it makes my life easier.
