Just finished my first session using the mic and the sound was pristine. It was so pure and really needed zero EQ or compression. It was the mic and the vocalist in the most pure set up possible and the mic worked like magic.

I rank the DA 87i as equally performing with Neumann and other recording industry standard microphones.

I can't believe how pristinely quite the DA-87i is between vocal phrases. This mic is truly a precision instrument. I did extensive research while looking for the best 87i reproduction available, and am so happy I chose the DA-87i. This mic will be my Go-To for many years to come...!

The folks at Dachman Audio are great to work with, and the DA87 I ordered is superb: good build quality, great sound. I’m using it primarily in a M/S configuration with an actual U87; while there are discernible differences in their sound, the DA87 more than holds its own. Furthermore, I could see where the DA87’s character might be better suited to some vocalists than the U87 would be. The only constructive criticism I can offer is the knuckle joint where the supplied shock mount meets the mic stand needs to be more robust, as the DA87 is a larger and heavier mic than a U87; I had to crank it down with considerable force before the mount plus mic stayed in place without drooping. Other than that, it’s a fabulous product.
