Knife is supposed to be “outrageously sharp” but straight out of the box I ran my finger alone the edge and it couldn’t nick out. So paper test results even worse paper folder over and crumpled 9/10 times
Cheap Chinese quality. Do not waste your money.

Just don’t buy them
Just don’t buy them! After two years they need sharpening and I have to do it every month. You have to pay to return them to Cutco in London, Ontario if you’re from Canada.
The worst part is I called the customer service line got an agent that said they would send a free shipping label so I could send it directly back to the factory in USA. So waited over a week no label, I called and asked where the label was and they have no record of my account! The lady had NO customer service and said that I’d have to pay! I will just return them at Costco, I’ll never support this company again.

Ruined anniversary
I recently purchased the homemaker ultimate upgradable set. This was almost a 2,500 dollar purchase. I bought this for my wife for our 15 year anniversary. I even got the block engraved. Package was delivered just in time, right before my wife came home from work on the day of our anniversary. The box was gift wrapped and looked perfect as my wife started to open it. Long story short... the set was missing all 10 crucial knives. What came in the box was the block, cutting board, sharpener, and the 8 steak knives. No chef knife, butcher, forks, bread, pairing.. etc. I spent way too much money to have an incomplete set and it completely ruined my anniversary night and put stress on my wife. I called customer service and the quickness they could get the knives to me was by the end of the week on Friday(I called Tuesday). Knives didn't show up till the following Monday. When the rest of the knives finally showed, I was happy again that I would be able to place them all into the block and show my wife. Disappointment once again followed as I opened the box and counted only 9 out of the 10 knives I was supposed to receive. On top of it, the main knife used to cook with was missing. The chef knife. I called again and was able to get the missing knife sent to me by Wednesday. All the company did for me to compensate was the longer pairing knife and two extra steak knives. I've ALWAYS wanted Cutco and knew of the quality and their reputation. However, this experience has put a very bad taste in my mouth to the point where I was close to sending it all back.

Scummy Practices and Pressure Sales
My husband and I were given a sales pitch via Skype by a family member we didn't even know because they wanted to "practice". They got a hold of us through a different family member. Apparently training was paid and it was only supposed to take about an hour or so. We understood that it was supposed to go to their college fund and were willing to give them the time.
The presentation was a mixture of slideshows and live demonstration. I have to say I was pretty impressed when they cut a penny in half with the scissors.
What I was not impressed with was the pressure sales. It was not actually just practice, they were really trying to sell to us. They told us what other family members had bought, got us to make a wish list, offered amazing deals on the things we "wanted" (but those deals were only available right then), and tried to get 5 referrals out of us.
I surreptitiously did some research while they were presenting and found out that Cutco is an MLM. Their sales model specifically targets young people and they are supposed to only reach out to people that they get direct referrals for, especially family.
I'm fairly immune to pressure sales so I didn't have a hard time saying no, but found out that another family member who is short on cash caved and spent over $600.
From what I understand the knives aren't bad, and the lifetime replacement is probably part of why they are so expensive. However, having a couple of good knives already, I didn't really buy it.
I was also really unimpressed with some of the script they were going off of and the way the company targets family members to try and guilt people into buying. Save your money and get a good knife elsewhere.

Complete sham marketing
Complete sham marketing. Overpriced knives. I was a part of this industry for too long and I will never purchase Cutco knives or recommend them to anyone ever again.
