Gorgeous place to stay but lodge terrible!
Having recently stayed in a privately owned Lodge at South Lakeland Leisure Park recently it turned out to be problematic from the get go ! The actual park is glorious, with manicured grounds around a lakeside on which there are swans and other wildlife. You can swim or boat on the Lake. The gripe was the Lodge itself No 3 Lakeside. Situated in prime position on the Lakeside. On booking I asked for a wheelchair accessible lodge as I have a walking disability We arrived to a broken ramp which I couldn’t use so had to try and walk with a frame up a steep slope to enable access. The doors are narrower than ordinary doors so even my walker couldn’t fit through - the main bedroom was inaccessible due to there being only 6” of room to walk round bed - we had to use the single beds - very old cheap mattresses with springs coming through. Both bathrooms - toilet seats had no rubber blocks on so they sat on top of the toilet pan and slid! Toilet roll holders fell off! The tv in room was wall mounted but on a tangent! This lodge cost in excess of £1000 for 4 days! It did have a hot tub! And the view was fantastic but left us feeling very disappointed. After complaining to the office they made a temporary repair to ramp. It’s such a pity that this ruined a nice break. I do not blame the estate office but they should advise the owner of Lodge that it needs major revamping and changing the spec.
