Initially we were excited to use CSI rentals because they came highly recommended by our videographer friend who uses them frequently. Our experience was alright. The rental order was placed for 2 lenses and the next day we got a call informing us that our sony rental wasn't available so they gave us an adapter and canon lens. That worked out well. However, we didn't get a call informing us that the Nikon lens we wanted to rent was also not available so they fulfilled the rental through fotocare, another rental spot not too far from CSI. My wife had some running around to do to pick up the other lens. Overall, CSI did come through for us but my wife shared a different in-store experience that wasn't so helpful/friendly than I got over the phone when speaking with 2 people on different occasions. We're going to rent from them again and trust that we just had a rare experience.

The website is a mess. Constantly having to put information back in to get the correct order. The quote vs price can be different if you use a coupon code. constantly crashing site too. Pickup and drop off was perfect! Item rented perfect. It's just a headache to use the website.

I've been renting from CSI for over 5 years. CSI generally gets the job done and provides what I need. Some people there work extra hard to give you what you need and answer questions. And some customer service reps bristle with every request as though you are asking for extraordinary things. I've had mixed experiences. I rent from them for their convenience. Generally it's fine.

I have rented small packages from CSI for the past two years and most often things go very well but the last time I rented a camera I received three uncharged batteries in my kit. My camera also kept turning off. Granted, this is very rare and I rented the Black Magic Pocket Cinema Camera which is known for bad battery power. They did give me 50% off for the issue with the camera. I will continue using them -- they are very accessible and their courteous staff make working with them easy!

I rented a AC monitor but it didnot work... one of my team member had same experience.. he said usually their monitors never work. Not sure if some one has informed you guys or not but you guys should at least make sure you give aways working equipments.. when we rent, we can't carry the big cameras with us and after renting if we are shooting we wont have time to go back and return.

I've rented enough times where a 'hello' coming in the door would be nice, but I always feel, instead, like I'm walking uninvited into someone's home...and I have the wrong address. In addition to that, often times my equipment has been faulty or the order is missing pieces. This has become an expectation. CSI would never be my rental company for clients and jobs where there was no room for error, rather CSI has become the place I go to when I prefer the convenience of the Brooklyn location and can stomach the added stress when something goes wrong.
