The consistently terrible reviews for Costar aren't an accident - it's a side effect of the core culture ("win" at all costs, customers be damned) of the company that permeates from junior sales people, to senior sales people to the legal team. Costar T&C has a buried auto-renew that renews your contract 60 days PRIOR to expiry with no notification, despite it being in clear violation of Virginia Statute § 59.1-207.46, which is where Costar is headquartered and the listed venue for any dispute as per the T&C itself. I reached out about 3 weeks prior to our contract mentioning I am not looking to renew and they kindly informed me that I had ALREADY been renewed for the next year, at $1750 a month that adds up to a tidy $21k. We made multiple attempts to find a reasonable resolution, telling them we didn't need the service, but the toxic incentives the sales people have encourage them to engage in unethical behavior - including in one Zoom call with the regional sales manager and 2 other associates where I was name called. Overall, it's not worth trying to reason with them - they make it impossible to cancel a contract. We hired a Virginia based lawyer and send them a demand notice. They are aware of the law - so they dropped the auto-renew claim pretty quickly, and voided the already issued auto-renewed invoices. Sticks over carrots! So hat tip: if they force an auto-renew on you, hire a Virginia based law firm and threaten to sue! Their T&C is in violation of the laws of Virginia and they know it.

CoStar is trash, and their recent purchase of Matterport has only further tanked that garbage platform.

Absolute waste. I've been a member of CoStar for many years, but I will be stopping my subscription as soon as my contract expires. CoStar used to verify sales and provide useful data to subscribers (at a very expensive price). Now, they literally have no idea how to verify a sale due to incompetent training and staffing. If they actually verify a sale (maybe 5% is actually verified), they have no idea what questions to even ask. Their coverage has dwindled over the years and no longer provide anything useful in rural markets like South Dakota. It's gotten to the point where a simple google or AI search is better than CoStar's premium platform. Even their market write-ups are obviously automated with zero localized insight. Make sure to put in a cancellation request as soon as you start a contract or they lock you in for an additional year with rate hikes. Seriously unethical contract policies they handcuff you to. As of 2026, the service is a scam and I would not recommend to anyone at their current prices and policies.

$900 per month, no legitimate leads, and all the leads are brokers. It’s way overpriced and produces no real leads. And God forbid a competitor reports you—they will drop you immediately with no due diligence

Costar sold us a product knowing our use case. Sales approved. Someone on account security decides the use case is not approved. Account closed, no refund, no communication about this proactively until we reach out. Sales people are telling us they will get back to us and never do. They keep sending invoices despite the platform being unusable and being unable to explain their reasoning.

Very responsive before I signed up. Sales support was strong, regular analyst calls were offered, and the service was positioned as a serious commercial property platform. Once I signed up and then asked to cancel after finding a tenant elsewhere, the tone changed completely. The support disappeared, the analyst calls stopped, and everything became slow, corporate and bureaucratic. A small overcharge then turned into multiple emails, a formal complaint, internal credit requests and bank verification steps instead of a simple refund. The process was completely disproportionate to the amount involved and should have been resolved quickly and sensibly. My impression is that they are far more interested in winning business than treating customers fairly once money has been taken. Based on my experience, I would not trust them to handle cancellation, billing or refunds in a straightforward way.

I am a disable vietnam vet trying to sell a commercial property in Tennessee. I agreed to advertised on Loopnet for 3 months October - December 2024, I went online and canceled the Ad but loopnet keep charging my credit card for 6 addition months. I called loopnet's toll free number was told that I failed to contact them ad ask to stop charging my card. I am old and disable and can't afford to be charged $180 x 6 months or $1080 total. Note: they never ran my ad but would still be charging me If I had not cancel my visa card. I personally feel they are rude and dis-honest.

A junk company with miserable data! Like the management such as the service
