Content Policy Must Be Clearer
I was able to speak with Nick on the Content Policy via video policy and my concerns from the original review. He addressed them and made me feel better about using the tool. He said he would update the terms to better reflect the current usage of the product. My original concerns: 1. The Tinyseed AI option was removed and replaced with OpenAI. One of the benefits of the tool was the founder Nick developed his own AI. After the AppSumo deal expired, he removed this feature and used OpenAI making it similar to all the other AI text generation tools on the market. Update: I addressed this with Nick and he stated the reason it was removed was that it was inferior to OpenAI. An improved AI is on their roadmap. 2. The creator changed the Terms of Service to eliminate most businesses from using the tool soon after the AppSumo deal ended. For example, I sell online courses and ebooks on productivity. I am prohibited from using the tool as of August to generate content for my blog because I don't have a teaching degree. If you have experience, it does not matter. You must show proof of a degree or license. I suggest you read the Terms of Service to make sure your niche is covered. Most niches are not covered. If you sell an eCommerce product that is regulated in any capacity (which are most eCommerce products), you cannot use the tool. I used the tool fine without an issue to create landing pages before the new rules were put into effect. Update: When I spoke with Nick on this issue. He said he would review the Content Policy to make sure it makes sense for the tools. 3. Nick, the founder created a social credit score called an Honor Score after creating the tool. You get 100 points to start. If your score drops below 97 points you are banned from the tool. Just a 3 point drop will ban you from the tool forever even though you have 96 points left. It was 90 points before a ban but I see Nick recently changed it to 97 points. Update: Nick stated he would review this system because it was a bad idea to implement. Many customers dislike the system as much as I. 3. When I bought the AppSumo deal I purchased unlimited content. The Terms were changed to make the unlimited content deal very limited. For example, if you create more content than Nick decides you should create you are penalized even though you bought the unlimited AppSumo deal. There is already rate-limiting in the software that limits how much you can create in a day. If you use the software daily and hit the limits even though you paid for unlimited generations, you will be banned. Update: Nick explained that the excessive generation applies to the use of scripts. It does not apply to an individual manually generating content. He will work on making this clear when he revises the Content Policy. There is no penalty for generating content in accordance with the plan limits. Overall, I appreciate the fact Nick was willing to talk to me. We had a good conversation and he has changed my view of the tool.
Response from ContentBot.aiOct 1, 2021
Hi Deborah Thank you for your review. I see you took the time to air a lot of grievances you have for our product and I'd like to respond with our position on each. The last communication we had you called my company a scam - something I took a bit too personally considering all the efforts I have put in to building this product. We are not a scam at all. If anything, we are trying to ensure the eligibility of the AI industry in the content generation sub-sector. We have a duty to do this and unfortunately other AI tools have not taken the same stance as us, causing a mismatch in expectations with our tool. People feel that they should just be able to get our AI tool to generate any type of content but dont understand that we have to ensure that disinformation and fake-news is not originated with ContentBot. TinySeed vs OpenAI The reason we developed and added TinySeed to our platform was because we were severely limited by OpenAI with the amount of text we can generate at nay given point. We were limited to 30 words with long form content. After months of working with OpenAI in developing our responsibility programme (which coincidentally was the reason for this review), we were allowed to generate a lot more content. OpenAI is far superior to the AI we used for TinySeed resulting in a huge different in quality. When we received better access to OpenAI we decided that TinySeed was no longer needed (why have an inferior AI running along a superior AI when they are doing the same thing?) The creator changed the Terms of Service In order for us to get better access to OpenAI's services, we had to ensure that we will not allow certain types of content to be generated on our platform. By doing this, we set up an "Honor Score" system which automatically monitored all inputs/outputs and categorised them. If they fell within one of our "censored" categories (see https://help.contentbot.ai/en/articles/5603577-censored-content-categories) we auto-flagged that prompt and issued an automatic warning. I must admit, our early system was a bit too trigger happy which is why we allowed for 10 warnings before a suspension. When we finally got everything working (mostly) smoothly, we dropped that down to 3 warnings and then a suspension. Rate limiting You mentioned that "Nick decides on how much content you can create". The rate limiter was always there. We limit users to 9 generations per minute or 45 per hours. This is inline with OpenAI's strict guidelines. The rate limiter is there to protect the system from abuse (and yes, we have had many people try abuse the system in the last few months). Honor Score As mentioned above, we do have an "Honor" system. We have fine-tuned this system to automatically flag and warn users when they may have gone against the content policy. Approval for censored content As mentioned to you on email, we can only approve accounts of owners who are a registered professional in their field. I offered this to you in our last communication only to be met with "you're a scam". We have successfully whitelisted many accounts on our platforms that are registered lawyers, doctors, financial analysts etc. Anyone seeking approval for censored content categories can do so here: https://help.contentbot.ai/en/articles/5601396-getting-approved-for-censored-content Just for the record, the category of content you were creating was acceptable. T here's a fine line between motivation and psychology - we were just worried you would be creating psychological advice, which I don't think was your plan anyway. You contacted me about the rate limiting - I never insinuated that you were abusing the system, I had simply asked why you thought that was unacceptable. You told us that the rate limiter makes the software unusable - I had enquired how it does that and I told you that the rate limiter is there to prevent abuse. With regards to your comment of "He said it was irresponsible for me to sell online courses". No I never. These were my words to you: "...to be perfectly honest, it would be highly irresponsible of anyone to allow AI to create content in those niches unless the user who is receiving that content is certified in their fields and able to edit and tweak the content to be 100% factually correct." I was referencing the other AI tools, not you. I hope we can work this out - Based on the content you are generating you are still clear to use the product.
