It would be zero stars if it was an option! This company is the worst place to ever get a loan through. My car was totaled in the end of March paid off by the Insurance company but this place Consumer portfolio took 3 months to pay my gap claim and also reported my payment late when there were no more payments due! I just paid this made up balance of $268 on Tuesday September the 29th you know this terrible company reported me late again on October 3 rd! I have had many cars and many finance companies but never ever have I come across such rude disrespectful people who lie and try to ruin peoples credit! How can they be allowed to do this to consumers over and over! I cannot get this resolved and it is really hurting me

STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS ROTTEN COMPANY
1st, I DO NOT FABRICATE ANYTHING...EVER. I TELL THINGS EXACTLY HOW THEY HAPPEN EVEN IF IT PUTS ME IN A NEGATIVE LIGHT. NO ONE IS PERFECT. So, I apply for financing through a large well known dealership & provided my paystubs. APPROVED. Took possession of the vehicle & gave the down payment. Consumer Portfolio contacted me & did their "Welcome" call & she said, Great, I'm sending this to watever the dept is called that pays the dealership, & your loan will be paid in full in the next day or 2. GREAT! 5 days later my salesman calls me & says, the bank is asking for your W2. Ok. Sent it right over. A day or 2 later, he calls me again to ask me if I can send him my bank statements bc Consumer Portfolio wants to make sure your direct deposits match up w/ ur paystubs & W2. Ok. Log into my bank, download my statements, sent them over within 10 mins. The next day, he calls me again & says ur work # needs to be a land line. I provided a # that my boss, whos an attorney, forwards calls to his cell phone wen hes in court. But Consumer Portfolio didnt want to know that, the salesman also informed me to make sure my boss answers the phone to verify my employment. So he had calls forwarded to his cell phone in case they called bc he was in a trial. That wasnt good enough for them. They wanted to call a landline phone. WAT?? REALLY? Mind u, By this time, I've had the vehicle for 2, 3 weeks. Today has been 1 month that I've had the vehicle. My salesman calls me & says they still havent paid them for my deal & now they want me to give permission to log into my bank account for them to see the deposits. NOPE!! I provided EVERYTHING they requested within minutes. Not to mention, they approved this prior to me signing the contract & taking the vehicle. Just as every other finance company does. Now AFTER the fact your requesting all this other info, & u were provided w/ it. I would NEVER permit anyone to log into my bank account & I dont no anyone that would. Especially if someone has been a victim of identity theft. It takes years fighting w/ the credit bureaus regarding identity theft & I was not going down that road again. My salesman got me approved w/ another finance company. So if you dont want any aggravation, stress & anxiety, STAY FAR AWAY FROM CONSUMER PORTFOLIO SERVICES!! This was so ABSURD that the dealership I went to, is no longer useing them!!

Can I leave a negative Star rating
Can I leave a negative Star rating? I co-signed on a loan with my son last year on his 18th birthday. He killed himself in the car in January this year. He shot himself in the head. They repossessed the car after I refused to drive it or pay for it any longer. They sold it and I still owe 20,000$. I will never pay that. I will file bankruptcy before they see a single dime. This is after squeezing every single penny in late fees due to their poor systems returning my sons payments over and over. Poorest customer service ever.
