It’s been 2.5 months and they haven’t returned my deposit. They were terrible to communicate with the whole time I lived there as well so no surprises there.

Lived in Common Marcy for a year, brand new building. Awesome neighborhood. However Common management is nearly impossible to reach for anything important. A/C filter breaks and starts spraying moldy smelling water all over your things? Deal with it. Hot water broken? Deal with it. Washer and dryer definitely haven’t been serviced or cleaned since they were bought. They don’t work well and if you leave your clothes in them too long they will reek of mold. Tried to move into another common location, ALTA, to find out the building was located next door to 3 homeless shelters and nicknamed death alley for the heroine epidemic on that very street, found this out THE SAME DAY I was being pressured into signing my lease.

I have NEVER had such a terrible, anxiety ridden experience with any other rental that I have had. INCAPABLE customer service team that have proved to be unhelpful time and time again. I moved out almost 50 days ago from my oakland apartment, and was supposed to get my security deposit within 21 days of moving out (this info was emailed to me) and this is consistent with CA LAW! I have been trying for weeks now to get in touch with someone who can tell me why i haven't received the deposit or an itemized breakdown. I was told that the billing team would reach out to me two weeks ago and NOTHING HAS HAPPENED. I have sent about 5 emails in the past 5 days. I have been calling their number and the team on the other side apparently is not equipped to help in anyway and i just keep getting told that someone will reach out to me. I have even reached out to them on instagram with the same old answer that someone will reach out to me. Someone emailed me today and told me it would take 14 to 60 days! WHAT!? This is totally different from the info i was given earlier and in CA it is ILLEGAL to take more than 30 days. I am preparing documentation to take this terrible company to a small claims court. They are unlawfully holding a ridiculous deposit of $3000! Will update this review later.

Terrible customer service. Dis-organized company. I set up appointments for viewing. Automated confirmation system sends false schedule times. Customer service people don't show up for appointments, or show up late. In addition to that with tons of excuses. How is no-one responsible for not showing up.

I reserved a room, paid for it, signed a lease, and was on my way to the building on my moving day (today). As access codes were not given to me, I kept calling and texting the leasing person I was dealing with and was getting sporadic answers here and there. I was now on site, sitting outside the building with 4 pieces of luggage without having the login info/code to access the building for about an hour or so, all while needing to connect to my job and work… To actually find out that the room I reserved is not available and is still being occupied by someone else. A much smaller room was offered after I insisted on the phone and texts. However, I requested a tour before making my decision as I have insisted on the size during the touring and in all my exchanges because I am claustrophobic and can’t be in a tiny room. Again, my calls and texts were ignored and the one answer I got was vague and did not confirm any tour. Now, 3 hours into waiting and calling the emergency line operators. I was constantly being told that someone from the leasing office will get back to me as they had found an alternative or a different room. Mind you, I moved from France 3 days ago and was in a hotel that I checked out from with nowhere to go. While waiting, I had plenty of time to talk to all the tenants that were in and out of the building and they all complained about the shady practices of management and how unresponsive and awful they were (25 days without AC, increase in rent without notice, unattended maintenance requests, etc.) After waiting 5 hours, I booked a last minute expensive hotel, jumped back in an Uber to head back to the hotel I was in before and emailed Common management to refund me and to tell them that I have never seen such unprofessional way of conducting business and such awful and poor customer service. They replied within 2 minutes and offered an alternative room, access codes, and all details by email. Anyway, long story short. I will sue this company if they don’t refund me and I advise anyone considering them not to move forward. This is a horrible company.

The service is terrible, they never respond and quite often help.

My son was recently approved for a room at i5 and I would be guarantor . They sent many documents with an email . The email stated $1350 for 11 months on a 12 month lease ( one month free). Unfortunately the lease came in as $1430 monthly and a membership lease of $1511 monthly . Also an additional $400 undisclosed move in fee. I have sent numerous emails to leasing asking why the numbers are so different . What is his actual rent. No one is replying . I don’t trust this company and would like my $300 refunded . Stay away as I believe this is a bait and switch taking advantage of people .

Do yourself a favor and live somewhere else. The customer support for this company is absolutely terrible, they will answer your email no sooner than 5 days later and generally say something like “Sorry we are unable to help in any reasonably basic way”. I have heard no one (and I’ve now met many people that lived here) say otherwise. My situation is unique in that there was a clear mistake made that resulted in me getting the wrong room while paying more for it. Their only fix was for me to wait a month and sign a new lease, no discount (I’m paying the most for my room of my roommates, it is the smallest room) and generally no solutions offered that are worthwhile. We also have several persistent issues with our apartment that have gone unaddressed but no one seems to care. I’m sure someone from their team will comment on this eventually like “we are sorry to hear about your problem email us at…” but that seems to be the extent of their help. Seems like some systemic issues coming from the top down. Investors stay away? Not sure why/how this team has 100M+ dollars
