We don't have A/C. Again.
I posted a review in early June for... the same issue. They did eventually fix it. Determined there was a Freon leak in our A/C unit, but apparently no one bothered to look into it further and make sure it didn't need repairs. But the A/C broke again about 8-9 days ago, in the middle of July in New York City, immediately before an extremely dangerous heat wave which we were trapped inside for. Three of us are impacted. I work from home, another roommate works in extremely hot and hazardous conditions, and another hasn't been able to stay in her own home because of it. We are all suffering ill health effects. Our A/C has been broken for over a week now and all we've gotten is ignored and lied to. Over the weekend we were assured that someone would be here "first thing" Monday morning. We then heard nothing until we specifically reached out numerous times, at which point I was told that the unit needed to be replaced, for which they need to contact the building owner to take care of, but they can't get in touch with them, so we're just stuck. Every time we're in touch with Common, we get "there's nothing we can do!" as if they're somehow the real victims in this. I understand working in customer service is thankless and the people we're talking to are largely powerless. That doesn't mean they're the victims of our harassment because we're begging for help, and they couldn't pass us along to someone more senior or just... not lie to us. I wish I could even form enough thoughts to go through every email and BS response we've gotten, but I've had heat exhaustion for about four or five days, and honestly after three months of this off and on, I don't even know what to say anymore. I suffer from OCD and on numerous occasions the heat has triggered panic/anxiety attacks and relapses into self-harming behaviors (who knew heat could do that, that was new information for me too). I work from home, I have no choice but to, my job is highly sought after, and I have to do it knowing I can't put my best effort in -- which has been the case for more than half of the time I've had it. The physical illness is almost second to the anxiety and emotional turmoil this all causes. This isn't even getting into the fact that in addition to not having A/C, our washing machine has been broken for three weeks and the response we're STILL getting is "we haven't heard back from our vendor about when they're available to come by to look at it". A/C and a washing machine -- both things we pay for -- both being out in the middle of summer. We're paying for this privilege.
